Well, today I canceled my mother-in-laws mini-van and the three other washes at her work to do a car for a show tomorrow. I spent the day leisurely working on a '47 Ford Convertible. I tell ya it's a joy to work on classic Hot Rods like this -- and I woulda canceled anything booked to spend the day doing work like this. Vehicles like this are my speciality and I probably coulda slammed it out in two hours, but instead I took a day off and enjoyed myself chatting with the owner, comparing notes, and listening to the stories of all the awards and trophies he has for this car. Most people with cars like this do the work themselves and getting this job was a purely a case of God putting me at the right place at the right time. I will post the four pictures that came out -- I am so frustrated cause I took lots of shots before, during, and after, but as soon as I got home, I discovered (@#$%^&!!) that the card in my brothers camera is corrupted. I'll take some more pics of the final product Wednesday and post them then, but ya'll will get the gist of the day from these... This was a "hand only job" using Finesse in some of the bad spots, then BC-2, then Mothers Sealer Glaze all applied with the finest of pleasure using the softest of diapers (don't offer me MF's I don't like em)-- Yeah there are one shot waxes, polishes, glazes, or sealers out there, but today was a "labor of love" and honestly, if he woulda asked, I woulda done it for free
The motor was in poor shape. It had a bad cap on the power steering pump which left a film of dust and dirt making for some work. Owner was happy, maybe thought I was a little slow but I explained that "doin his car I would graciously do over any Ferrari any day of the week and that today I was gonna just take my time and do a good job." I don't think he'll notice the absence of compound from 8 years ago when the vehicle was painted from around the fuel door, or around the jambs -- nor will he notice that the fins on the inside of the fender-wells in the engine bay are waxed, but so what I'll know that if he doesn't win another award at tomorrows show it's not because of anything I didn't do
so without any more babbling and head swelling -- here's the pics
