Toasted headlight lenses

Ive been fighting my headlight lenses for some time, originally they just hazed over after three years.

I would just polish them, and be good as new for a while, heres a picture of the first time.

A year ago I used the stuff sold at Wallmart cost around $20.

they had started to not just haze but turn brown, the Wallmart stuff said it had a UV sealer.

I found it doesn't last, the UV sealer turns brown in time, and its

not the clearest to begin with.

So this time I wet sanded with 1000 grit till all Yellowing was

gone and went right to paint.

I used real two part clear coat with a pro spray gun, I had the stuff on hand,

or I would have used a rattle can, but the two part pro stuff is much more durable.

and wont get damaged by fuel, and hopefully hold up to love bugs a little better.

This picture does'nt show the Yellowing very well (shot indoor) but

they came out great, the left is after 100 grit wet sanding and the other is before.

Looks good.

They now have rattle cans of clear with an actual catalyst. You do something on the can to release the catalyst and then have a limited time to use it. Not something you'll find at Wal-Mart but a paint supplier should carry it. I first read about it here somewhere and then my son who runs a paint store was telling me about it.

Thanks guys. This did save me some cash. I did read about the catalyst rattle can sold on line, and sounds like the way to go being much more durable. If I hadn't had the stuff on hand I would've ordered a can less clean up and all.
