To the Menzerna users

I've only used the menzerna products with a rotary so I can't comment here, but if you do a search I remember there were a couple tutorial menzerna via PC threads with pics, plus I think 04cobra had some info in a thread on his uses via PC. They should'nt be hard to find and I'm sure some of them will chime in...

I'm no expert on these things and haven't been experimenting, so I'll lay out a baseline of what I've been using with IP and FPII.

FPII: white LC polishing pad on speed 5 or 6, with very light pressure. I don't use this so much to remove light marring (which it can), but more to burnish the paint to a high gloss

IP: LC polishing pad on speed 4 or 5, with a little pressure, especially at the beginning of the passes. You can also go up to a orange LC pad if you want, and the standard warnings apply to yellow cutting pad users.

Anyone have any beefs with this line of attack?

I am also curious to find out if the finish will burnish to a higher gloss with a finishing pad and FPII, but I'm not sure the polish will break down properly with such a soft pad. Opinions?

Didn't your Menzerna products come with instructional literature? All the ones I bought did.

In any case, I use the IP with the orange LC pad and it actually looks good enough to skip the FP II, but I do FP II with the white LC pad anyways just to make sure. I haven't tried FP II with a finishing pad, but I've been thinking about it. :)

It's an extra step, but I've found that I can enhance the gloss

factor by using a finish with the rotary. If I want a gentler

application, I go with the PC. Either way, I doubt you'll be

disappointed with the results:xyxthumbs

I followed this tutorial from Dr. Jones: http://autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24209

Not to hijack the thread, but did anyone else have a hard time removing FPII?

I didn't initially, but when I missed some spots and found them later while applying FMJ, the were a PITA to remove. It became easier when I first spray the area with a QD. If you're having a hard time removing FP II, try spraying a 50/50 mixture of water & alcohol.

Try remove Power Gloss..man it a pita. I used on my rotary. I always get gummed out/cake on. I dont know why. :nixweiss

do the menzerna abrasives break down like traditional diminishing abrasives?

Yes they do, and in my experience with several other brands, Menzerna breaks down even further than other equivalents, leaving an unmatched finish.

I read somewhere that Menzerna-werk leads the world's in abrasives manufacturing.

Here's a link to a Menzerna e-tailer that describes the polish characteristics. I take most e-tailer's info with a pinch of salt, but this info seems consistant with what I already know of Menzerna.

Menzerna link.

BTW, PowerGloss and a rotary are unmatchable. Starts at about 7 or 8 on the abrasive scale, and ends up with a incredible gloss ready for topping in most cases. :up

I hope this helps.

when using power gloss mist the pad every now and then with distilled water or a quick detailer. It may splatter slighlty at first but you will get the hang of it to avoid that as you practice. This is the only way I have managed not to go through 10 pads on 1 car. Also the more you work power gloss the further it breaks down and it becomes easier to wipe off.

Hi,

I did mist my pad. What rpm are you using? I'm at 1500, I dont if I should bump up to 1800?
