to open another shop or not

Millennium Detailing
I have been contemplating the idea of opening another detailing center/shop in another town that is being allmost all finished and up to this date no carwas or detailing. (just y0our crappy gas station so called car detailing). MAny of my clients come from there and they are telling me that there is a lot of business in that area that I could benefit from. I took a drive out there and it looks like a middle to uper-class neighberhood with a huge corporate park being finnished. My question to all of you is. Does anyone here own more that one shop and if you have a or had what was the good, the bad and the ugly. ;)

I would take a good long look at the present world conditions. We are locked in a conflict in the middle east that only looks like it is going to spread. I heard talk about plans for a preemptive strike on Iran the other day. You also have to look at what is going on down in the gulf states. These storms are kicking the crap out of our economy. We could be on the edge of a crash worse than the Depression. I'm not sure if right now is the best time to be expanding a business. When gas gets up to $5 bucks a gallon I think that getting their car washed will be the last thing on their mind. Our industry is going to really be affected by these changes lately.

I agree with J, generally. I was thinking of two shops, but will probably not go to the second town until I can find cooperative shop space, like a glass place or car lot.
