When you purchase this Civic, I'll give you one other pointer to think about. When you go over the car's interior, pull up the carpet under the passenger side front floor mat (it pulls back from under the dash). When you do this, you should see a LED light. This light is an indicator used to trouble shoot the car's computer. If it's blinking, that means the computer is "throwing error codes". Make sure that the light is off. In case the computer has just been reset, start the car, let it run and check again to make sure there are no new codes thrown.

Thanks for the heads up! I don't know I exactly follow, tho. What am I looking for? If it is throwing error codes, what do I do?

Interesting....I want to check this out! more info!!!

Thanks!

if the LED is blinking, it's throwing a code. The LED will blink in succession. Count the blinks. There will be maybe 1 second between blinks, the LED will wait about 5-10 secs before repeating the code.

So if you pull up the carpet and the LED is blinking, wait for it to pause, and start counting until it pauses again.

So, if you counted 7 successive blinks on the LED, check your code here

Based on that, you'd have a defective TP sensor which is a part of the Fuel Injection system (and BTW, a giant pain in the rear end to replace, pray it's not a #7) :)

It's been suggested that the codes increase in seriousness by number. So a 1 blink code, the Oxygen sensor is a much less serious problem than a 70, which would be a transmission malfunction.

Ok, I pulled back the carpet and I couldn't see anything along the lines of a light. Where should I be looking?

Webster is about an 90 mins north east of the twin cities.

Right between Danburry and Siren

What kind of shape was the car in when you got it? Is it still in pretty good condition (swirl marks, scratches, stains on seats, etc.)?

my fault, I was thinking of the 91, in the 92 it was still on the passenger side, but it's in the footwell behind a panel. Sorry :)

I spent my entire year last year researching cars after I made an impulse purchase on my car and I learned a lot about purchasing, leasing, and what cars are good and which are not so good. (My car is fine, it's a 2002 Saturn SC2, but the fun wore off after about a month, I got it because of the story behind it and the uniqeness..it's one of 4 in the country...but that's a whole other story!)

Your Saturn is one of 4 in the country? That piqued my interest. Care to tell the story about your car?
