tire/wheel brushes

What's the opinion on the different makes of brushes for tires and wheels? Is the Megs line as good as OXO? I know you'll pay more for OXO but are you getting a truly superior product for the price difference? What about any other brand I didn't mention?

This place has a ton of brushes http://www.diycleaning.com/ , if not answering your question. I'm not sure that the Meg's brushes are directly comparable to the Oxo in application; the Meg's brushes seem to be fine, you can find them locally, frequently at a discount. I think Mother's is coming out with some brushes for this year also. I will say that the Meg's tire brush is not contoured like some others, which is better is personal preference. The wheel brush...has fairly stiff bristles, with heavy flagging on the bristle ends, again, for some wheels/users, that may be better or worse than a brush with softer bristles.

i like the megs brushes. the really long sproke brush is awesome...doesnt last very long with me, maybe 2 months since i have to clean my wheels every week (dang bmw's!!!!) but its so cheap, who cares.

and just bought the wheel face brush, and was shocked that such a big, sturdy item was only 6 bucks!!!!

no doubt oxo makes a good product, but looking at their prices i dont think theyre worth it.

I have OXO and several megs brushes. I sometimes use the wheels only assigned mitt. I have sealed the wheels with Klasse twins so there is minimum agitation needed when I wash.

I prefer BHBs over the ones with synthetic bristles. Eventually the flagged tips of *any* brush wear down. At that point the synthetic ones are much more likely to mar than the BHBs are. I had to have a set of BBS wheels refinished over this, and I inspected the brush before every use (just must've missed a few worn bristles).

I have no idea what brand my wheel/tire brush is, but I make a point to buy one with soft-bristled tips, which is rather hard to find around here. Most have hard stiff tips, just not my liking.

I'm a little confused. I have painted wheels on my Grand Cherokee - part of the Gold Package. Since most people wouldn't use a brush on their car/truck when washing, why would you use a brush on painted wheels? I'm fairly sure I'm missing something.

E-Jag- You hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned. I *do* use BHBs to wash my vehicles, so I don't mind using different ones to clean my wheels.

Note that many (most?) painted wheels are cleared these days and the clear on wheels is usually tougher/thicker than the clear on the body of the car, but I'm still awfully careful about how I treat the wheels, at least those on the good vehicles.
