tire shines

The new Michelin line tire shine works very well, although it isn't as shiny as much as it gives a very black look. One coat can usually leave the tire looking like new for a while, although the shine will obviously die out in time.

Mothers Fx is glossy, doesn't sling and inexpsensive

Tropicare non-silicone dressing is somewhat of a matte finish, long lasting polymer and more expensive(great on hard plastic trim as it doesn't wash off)

There is nothing wrong with Armor All. It's water based just like 303, Megs #40, Vinylx, etc.

3M Rubber and Tire Dressing is awful stuff. It's about 85% petroleum distillates by weight. How can this possibly be good for your tires?

Mothers new FX Tire Shine is excellent. High Gloss but not too much and excellent durability. Also water based with UV protection and dries fast with no sling.

Another vote for FX. Perfect gloss, very easy to apply, decent smell, good protection, good durability. A step above hot shine or EO if you ask me. Try it ;)

IF you can get it locally, mothers reflections tire care is even better than FX. Tires look blacker, more matte and very nice smell.

I have been alternating between Eagle One Tire Shine and 303. EO leaves a medium glossy shine that lasts, at most, a week. 303 is, of course, matte. Because it is matte, I cannot tell how long it is lasting. Any ideas? Is 303 really one of the safest products to use because it is: A. water based B. contains UV protectants??

Just to frustrate you guys north of the equator again, I use Polyglaze Tyre Black.

It is a water based paint which is shiny when it dries and lasts for months, as long as you don't scuff the tyre on a gutter.

Take a look.

Well it certainly isn't bad for your tires. The white milky dressings are water based and will not harm the tire. Some examples 303, Vinylx, Megs #40, Mothers Preserves, Armor All, and many others.

The new Mothers FX Tire Shine is also water based but I find it to be much thicker than the others I listed.

A product I thought would not be good for me is what I now consider the best. I used Meguiar's Insane Shine about a month ago. I thought this is way to wet and shiny for my taste. A couple days passed and the shine toned down. It's been on the tires a month and they still look like they have been freshly dressed. I never got a month from any other product I've used. This stuff is the longest lasting tire shine I've ever used.

If you can live with the glossy wet look for a couple of days until it tones down you might really like the durability of this product.
