Tire Shine......

Megs Hyper diluted 2:1 spray on tire

spray on tire before washing the car and you will remove the overspray you might get with the wash.

Thats what I use on all my SUV's and trucks with larger tires. Sitting there with a foam applicator and the trigger bottle takes twice as long!

Those look really nice. Will they handle say a Tahoe's tire easily?

Well they are 3 1/2" x 3" so not quite as big as that size tire but two swipes, one on the outer edge and one on the inside, works well.

THIS^^^^

I'm surprised it took 20 replies for Meg's HD to even be mentioned.

When I used Meg's HD, I diluted it 2:1 for tires and sprayed it on them after I was done washing and drying the vehicle, which was the first thing I would do. Once I was done with the rest of the outside and/or inside, the tires would maybe need one quick wipe with a cloth to remove excess. Tires were left looking great and it took all of about 30 seconds to dress them.

Even diluted 2:1 Meg's HD will be significantly more expensive then going with a "local" bulk water based dressing.

We used to use it. Works great but wasn't worth the extra cost IMO.

I have one of those, spray a little tire shine on it, and brush the tires. Boom, done. Takes about 20 seconds on a large lifted truck tire and maybe 10 on a car tire. I use the long handle too incase I want to dress the wheel-wells of SUV's or trucks. The long bristles help dress into all those nooks and crannies of those large truck tires.

As far as dressing, I've finally found a water-based dressing I like called "Appeal" ( I think Malco makes it). It's pricey at $40.00 a gallon, but it's shine and durability is unmatched by anything I've run into so far. The brush method above uses so little dressing that the gallon has lasted me at least 50-100 cars. You can dilute it as well too if you'd like.

On my weekly washes I'm noticing significant shine and gloss still remaining on the tires which almost makes me think for weekly-wash duty I could dilute the dressing a little more ($.50 a car is still a lot for volume washing).

But it has probably 80% of the "shine" I've seen out of direct-spraying solvent-based dressings, with WAY less product used and a lot more control. (I keep the brush head between the bottom of the car and the back of the tire and the spray nozzle relatively close to the brush to avoid any "atomization" into the wind which will end up all over the car)

Very good info here! Thanks!

I saw a vid on 3Ds website where they were using the same brush and method. I'll will be trying it asap.
