newbie here...i just cleaned my rims and tires on sunday. i used the eagle one az2...something like that...and for a shine i used Meg's hot wheel spray
it has rained down here in florida for a couple of days and will be for the
next few days....what noticed is that my shine did not last long...can water
dull your shine that quick? or didn't i use enough? Or is there a better product to use for a good tire shine?

I think you mean hot shine, hot wheel is a cleaner very similar to A2Z. If it is hot shine that you mean then I can tell you that water-based dressings can last a very short time if you get a lot of rain. I've had 3 coats af Adams VRT last a grand total of 6 hours due to excessive rain. One thing I can suggest is letting the shine dry for about 10 minutes and then buffing it off with a cheap MF (like a walmart branded one), this helps it soak into the rubber and hang on a bit more.

JMO....for the longest time i have been using armor all "detailers advantage" tire foam. (gold can). perfect results every time.

megs hot shine is petroleum based i believe, but i ahve not exactly seen the back of the bottle so i cant be sure. oily dressins tend to alst longer than waterbased dressings but in the end, not many dressings and last through driving in the rain, puddles, ect.

i suggest using STONERS "more shine less time". it last pretty well. only problem for me is the messy application and solventy smell.

so what do you recomend that i do....change the dressing or do 1 coat, let it dry then add another coat....feedback please

For over the counter dressings, I like the Teflon Tire Shine and the Michelin Tire Shine. They are a little more matte looking than the stuff you were using, but I find that even after rain those two dressing still have a darker, freshly dressed look about them. It's tough to keep tires shiny after they've been through rain. :(
