Tire dressings

spray and wipe Armor All for a semi shine... spray and leave on, come back in an hour, spray and wipe for a bright shine. That's as far as I go with tire dressings... typically I don't use any myself.

Try the DG 253. They are basicly the same.

I have now tried the SC Beyond Black on the tires of my daily driver HHR,and boy do they look awesome. I used it on the tires of my '64 C10,and I love the look as well. I went over each tire twice, and that left a very deep and black finish with just the right amount of shine! Very nice! I still want to give DG 253 and Z16 a shot though. The Beyond Black also worked well on my truck's tonneau cover, and also on some of the trim of my HHR.

It's interesting as to how dressings look on different tires. SC looked good on the tires of my Formula, but not like on my other two vehicles.

Little bit of derailing here... I was told by a fellow detailer back up in AK that if you want to get a tire dressing to last a long time, you should apply baby oil to an uncoated tire first. After you let it sit and soak (overnight), you then just apply whatever dressing you want and it sticks a lot longer. I still have yet to try this, but I did get some baby oil back when he told me, and was planning on doing half my tires to see how well it held up.

What should I use to safely but thoroughly clean my tires? I've been using Meg's Endurance Gel and while I've been happy with the finished look and durability, I'm about to try Opti-Bond. I never really had any sling like others talk about but I'm just tired of the mess it creates on application.

So...I don't think it wise to try and put Optimum on top of the Endurance unless I fully degrease the tires. Megs APC, 4/1? Stronger?

Knowing of a better way that won't harm my Pilot Sport tires would be awesome.

I recently tried 3D's Yellow Degreaser and it worked great. It's made to clean wheels and tires, and even at 10:1 it cleaned very well. It's a steal for the price and can be diluted up to 20:1. You should give it a try.
