Best of my opinion and experience I prefer Ultra Protectant. This water based, spray-on dressing formula leaves a long-lasting high gloss shine on tires.

I tried Armor All Extreme Tire Shine Gel, which definitely got the job done and made my tires very glossy, however the product became a bit messy and very greasy if you used to much. I tried Black Magic, and it wasn't as glossy as Armor All, however I could trust Black Magic a bit more.
Fresh Look said:Has any of you tried 3D Ultra protectant. Its a fantastic dressing. They came our with the thick version but I like the original one they got. You just spray and walk away. If you want less shine cut it with 50% water and you will get a nice new look. Also works great for interior since it is water-based. I think the price is also very reasonable. ....I agree with Dan. DG probably isn't going to satisfy your need in this case. The finish is more satin or matte (depending how it is applied/buffed down).tom p. said:I have been using Meg's NXT dressing (not certain it was intended for tires) and ran out of it a week ago and bought Meg's Endurance spray to replace it. I've used the Endurance spray on two cars now and am totally disappointed with it. I guess it's the appearance on these narrow (lo-profile) tires...it kinda feels and looks like nothing has been done. Tires look OK, kinda has the appearance of a brand new tire.
I've never liked glossy, greasy looking sidewalls, but have grown accustomed to seeing it and now feel it's missing

Dan said:The thing about any of the Meg's consumer line tire stuff is, it makes the tire a mess when it comes time to clean it. Not sure if they are using tons of silicone or 100% virgin tree sap, whatever it is, its a serious downer at wash time. FX does wash off after a couple of drives in the rain BUT it leaves the tires very black and there is no mess at wash time.
I know I'm going on about the stuff like a broken record but there is no OTC tire shine that comes close. Optibond is pretty good but not as much bling. PB Bold and Bright looks very close to FX but its more expensive, you need more product to get the same results and it leaves tires less black after it washes off. I've tried every other OTC stuff and ended up giving it away. Until someone comes back and finds something that is just the next miracle, I'm done buying tire shines.
Dan said:Tom, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. One tip on application, don't go nuts, it takes about an hour or so for it to set and it gets much glossier after it does its business. I find it works best with a foam applicator. I think I use 3-4 sprays on the applicator and then do the whole tire, sometimes I might add a second coat after I do the all the tires if I want a ton of shine.
