This year at the Cleveland Auto Show, there was a company selling tire shine that was maybe the best I've seen. But I cant remember the name. Does anyone know what it was called???

Thanks

What made it the best?

Probably that TRunner sells it and he's trying to drum up some business. <-- ok ok that's a complete joke. :chuckle:

Seriously I hope you find what you are looking for. Maybe someone else in the area attended and can help you out :nixweiss

Well what I liked about it was that it had a ton of shine and after the product was applied, the tires were completely dry and would not even smear.

Anybody see this display at the Cleveland Auto Show or others?

i think i may have a can or 2 at home it's comes in a spray can ,i usually just spray some on a foam tire pad and wipe on that way so i don't spray any on the paint.i got it at the philly show last year not this past one, i'll look for the name and who sells it i belive you can order some thru the net.it holds up well in the rain and gives a nice shine but not a high gloss shine. I guess that all depends on what type of gloss your looking for,i myself don't care for the real high gloss look but thats just me.

I’m waiting to see what it is, but I’m also hoping it's not a repeat of that product from the late 80’s that was a vinylesque type spray (kind of like a wood finishing shellac or varnish). People were getting the overspray on their cars, rims, etc, and the solvents in it would react to the clear-coat and leave dry, callous, wart looking spots you couldn’t fix.

When first applied the stuff was amazing for the first couple applications. After a few applications you couldn’t get it off, and it turned a dark yellow (like you’d expect a varnish to do in the sun), cracked, chipped and peeled like skin off a bad sunburn. The other thing I remember about the product advertising/marketing was they used the 308 Ferrari from “Magnum P.I. in their ads.

When perusing the NY Auto Show couple weeks ago, I saw all kinds of hucksters selling their wares. There wasn’t one I thought was legit to their claims. :down Love the presentations, love the hype, love the marketing and sales pitches :getdown ... but couldn’t find one that was realistic in their claims. These shows sell a lot of products to the 'gee-whiz' crowds, the knowledgeable people are to few & far inbetween.

I hope someone finds this product though ... Should be some interesting posts to follow, to say the least! :lol

Late response but it might have been called "Looks wet, no mess." I bought some at the chicago auto show and was very impressed. It is a more high shine type product but it doesn't fling and it's NOT greasy. Plus after a good couple of weeks when it starts wearing off a bit, just take a cloth (I prefer sponge) and just wipe around the tire a few times and the shine comes back. Pretty good stuff.

I've seen some type of tire shine where they use a flexible urethane clearcoat and that puts a permanent shine on the tires, downside is scuffs are permanent. Car shows are one thing real life practicality is another. But if that tire shine looks too good to be true it just may be. You can't put a shine on rubber unless you've added something on top usually liquid but in a rare case a solid like clear which is what that stuff sounds like.

How does it hold up in the rain? The guy saw the product demonstrated at a car show (presumabley indoors) and is trying to get the name of the product probably so that he can test it to see how it does hold up in the rain. Jeesh rehtorical questions just take up valuable space here.

I remember seeing something similar at Chicago Auto this year,. It came in a black aerosol can with purple lettering, but the name escapes me right now. The actual dressing was way too bling for my tastes, but it was completely dry to the touch, IIRC. I'll post up again if I can remember the name of the product.

Thanks for the tip in this posting Never Gone. I just picked this up at the Houston Auto show yesterday, i bought four cans. It's the wettest tire dressing i've ever seen. I'll still use my SCG beyond black and my Meguiars endurance gel, but when i want the wettest look i've ever seen before, i'll be reaching for the purple can.:2thumbs:
