Tire Cleaning???

What is wheel dressing? When I do my car, I use the same water and soap I used to wash the car with, and just scrub each wheel for a few min till all the junk is off. Do I need some kind of special fluid assault kit to clean my tires now lol?

There's various of wheel cleaner out there. I use from EO A2Z(had 2 orange bottle one),Meg APC,Poorboys Spray n Rinse. I use Meg #38/PB BnB/Meg Hyper Dressing for dressing up the tires.

I don't know of anything called "wheel dressing". You may be thinking of either a wheel cleaner or a tire dressing.

A tire dressing is a liquid or gel that you apply to the tires after washing them, which does several things for them:



*Keeps the sidewalls from drying out and cracking. The dressing serves as a sacrificial barrier, which protects the sidewall from exposure to UV rays and ozone, which will deteriorate the rubber over time.

*Keeps the sidewalls black, and anywhere from glossy to matte, depending on the product used.

*Makes the sidewalls repel water, and makes them easier to clean/dry.



A wheel cleaner is a strong cleaner meant to loosen brake dust and road grime from wheels. A typical car soap solution usually isn't strong enough for the initial cleaning of dirty wheels. Once you use a wheel cleaner and polish/seal the wheels, a car wash solution is typically plenty strong to clean them.

I've struggled tons with dressing/cleaning tires. Lately however I've found that a good degreaser (Car Care International's Tire Cleaner) helps along with a Meguiar's Tire Brush. My tires prior to this treament had alot of buildup and just looked horrible (Meg's/BnB/VRT build up). Scrubbed and the black grime just stayed in the brush. Afterwards I found that the tire was almost back to stock form.



For now on a good scrub with a effective degreaser/APC will be my routine. Having a really clean surface is key for tire dressings I've found.
