Tire Cleaner

I like to use thick tire gel like Black Magic Titanium on my trucks tires, but after a while and the tires get a little dirty looking, I guess because the dust and dirt sticks to the tire gel.



Griots Rubber Cleaner works great for getting the old gel off and gets them clean and dry so I can apply a nice fresh coat of gel.



i'm almost out of Griots Rubber cleaner, and need to get something soon. What do you guys use? I was hoping to find something cheaper than Griots.

It's not too strong is it? How long do you usually let it sit before you spray it off? I just got a set of Boze Forged wheels that have a polished bare aluminum lip.

it's actually pretty strong stuff. spray it on the tire (not the wheel) and let it sit for about 30 seconds, then scrub with a brush and hose away... done. other than that... good ole' car soap and a tire brush work well too.

I'm a bit of a clean rubber nut and have tried many products and many work ok.

The most recent one is the winner so far, both in terms of cleaning qualities and price.

Top of the Line tire cleaner. I got a gallon but I should have gotten two gallons, it's that good. The recommended dilution is 50/50 tire cleaner / water and that's what I'm using.

Put it in a pump mist bottle from Home Depot garden department, and watch the brown crud drip off like nothing you've ever seen.

You end up with a perfectly clean base for your favourite tire dressing. Really cheap too!

edit: It doesn't seem all that harsh either. It doesn't burn my nose, lungs, eyes, kidneys and spleen like the Castrol APC does.

Totally agree with the Eagle One it is some of the best out there and you can get it in someplaces for under $4

Westley's Bleche-White. This has never failed me for the white lettering, or the blackwalls. Really gets the brown out of tires. Amazing OTC cheap stuff sold everywhere!!!

I'm gonna give this a try once my Griot's runs out. One gallon of Griot's is almost double the price of one gallon of Hi-Temp's (and Griot's is not a concentrate). Thanks for the recommendation!

I have the Mothers and like it but I don't use it any more just because the TOL does a better job. I'll donate it to my neighbour.

When all that brown crud just oozes off the rubber without any agitation, you'll be as amazed as I was. Mind you, I agitate anyway, (fingernail brush) just from old habits dying hard.

I learned about the TOL tire cleaner here at Autopia so I'm glad to pass on the knowledge.

edit: I use Eagle 1 on my wheels because I want to keep the TOL stuff reserved for my tires only. I'm in Canada and the TOL wasn't as easy to get as Eagle 1.

You can get a great deal on E1 wheel cleaner if you do your homework.

I have found that after years of being a E1 fanatic the new Megs is a really great product, seems to be less toned down than the new version of E1.



You have to be crafty but the deals can be done, hope this helps.



Last night I picked up 6 bottles of the new Chevron Fuel additive, PureScape, Free! Also got a gallon or so of E1 car wash Free and $6 bucks back on Megs foam applicators, they only cost 9 for 6 two packs of them so I paid 50 cents each. Not a bad deal.
