Tire cleaner (Getting the mud & brown out)

I find that some of the vehicles I encounter have browning and embedded mud or fine soil that doesn't come out with pressure washing or scrubbing. I have used Simple Green and Megs APC in the past with great results (Even after washing the SG will suck the crap and mud out of the tires), but I don't want to continually subject aluminum rims to the Simple Green. Is there something that is just as effective but safe to use on aluminum? ARO? Thanks.

I really like brillo pads on neglected tires. Its an old trick back from the whitewall days but it works very well.

Eagle One A2Z All Wheel & Tire Cleaner has always worked well for me, even on the dirtiest of tires.

I've seen a couple of claims that people had problems with it on certain wheels, but the majority of press that i've seen on it has been very positive.

I would recommend a wheel shield or similar product to protect the rims from any tire cleaner overspray. Some of that stuff can be pretty harsh.

Also I've been told that much of the "browning" in tires is actually a just reaction to a chemical added to preserve the rubber. This is especially common in cars that end up sitting a lot, also more common with some specific tire brands.

Is it brown like this?

I've had this problem ever since I got my Maxxis tires. I tried APC, P21S, and Sonus Rim Bright and none of them were terribly effective.

Picked up some Amazing Roll Off and hit it a few times. I sprayed just on the tire (it was undiluted, have to dilute for painted surfaces), agitated with a nice little Cobra brush, waited about 5-10 minutes, hit it again a couple times like that and it got almost all of it out. You could see the brown sludge coming off as the ARO dwelled.

I don't want to say Bold n Brite dressing was the culprit but I think it may have had something to do with it. Either way it is much better.

wanna bump an old thread rather than start a new one.

Can anyone offer a direct comparison between ARO and Optimum Power Clean for tire cleaning?

Use Tarminator with a terry cloth rag and scrub firmly, all the old silicon oils, dressings, browning will go by by(fyi).
