Tire Cleaner and Dressing Recommendation

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a good tire cleaner and dressing. I'm currently using Meguiar's spray, which I guess works ok,(considering I don't know squat) but doesn't seem to last long.
What would you recommend?

Thanks

For the tire dressing...Lately I have been hooked on Teflon Tire Shine available at Advance Auto, among other places. It works great, lasts long, minimal to no sling, and is affordable. I have used a lot of other "off the shelf" tire dressings, and I like this one the most.

For heavy duty cleaning Eagle One A2Z Wheel and Tire Cleaner, available in most automotive stores and Walmarts etc. For normal cleaning, I just use wash shampoo and a good tire scrubbing brush.

For dressings, my favorites are PB's Bold and Bright and Zaino Z16.

Good luck!

I second the EO A2Z, it is by far, the STRONGEST wheel cleaner i've ever used! Just be careful on some wheels, as it may be too strong. For shining the tires, i use No Touch Tire shine, which i can get @ Costco.

Anything stronger than A2Z? I'm getting tired and sick of my damn tires. I think my Meguiars Endurance High Gloss absorbed in too much of some sort :dunno

I've tried Greased Lightning on brush, HiTemp Extreme on tire, and APC+ diluted 1:20

Maybe grab a stiffer brush? I used a spoke brush from Wal Mart

Dang Woob .. how strong do you want it? A2Z is almost as strong as drain cleaner! Spray A2Z on a brown tire and it will liquidfy the brown wax on contact, before you even start scrubbing.

A good Tampico tire brush ought to help. Not a knock to those happy with it, just my opinion and personal experience: Endurance ranks up there as one of my highest disgraced products. Yuck.

I find Mothers very good and equally safe enough to my satisfaction. There's few dedicated tire cleaners on the market, I suspect those formulated for both wheels and tires may have to trade off benefits to accomodate cleaning both. I researched some MSDS, for whatever they're worth, before deciding on the Mothers.

Bill: What is the make up of the Mothers tire cleaner? detergents, hydroxides? Do you know the PH value? It might be nice to have a tire cleaner somewhere between wash shampoo and A2Z, which I could use weekly.

Yup okay I've decided to throw away High Endurance. I will try to grab some A2Z then. I'm just hoping I'm not destroying my tires with all these dressings and cleaners.

Thanks! :)

The A2Z is a cleaner ONLY. It won't leave a gloss. So don't replace HE if that is what you meant to do. ;)

Thanks

It is pretty strong .. PH 13. They claim it is safe on all wheels but I've heard stories from users with rims painted aftermarket where it dissolved the paint! Never use on hot wheels, or leave on to dry. Works fine with my clearcoated wheels (Honda & Ford)

:D Hehe I know A2Z is not a dressing. If it was, I would be spraying that stuff everywhere if it was also gentler!

Yep, I have the MSDS. Yes, has sodium hydroxide as do many wheel and tire cleaners (.05 MG). It doesn't list the PH but I an attempt to test it sometime.

Like A2Z or whaever other cleaner you use, I'd use before redressing and defintiely upon any signs of dust/grime contamination on the tires. I don't think you would have to use all 3: car wash, Mothers and A2z, just the wash regularly and the Mothers less frequently than that.

Sometimes we forget: read the instructions !!

A2Z says to spray it on the wheels and let it stand for about 30 seconds. Then hit it with the hose but GOOD -- I usually hit it with JET spray for about 1 minute until I don't see any more foaming (detergeant) action.

If someone has wheels they aren't sure about, you can always create a diluted A2Z mixture in a spray bottle.
