Tips for care of my floormats?

Hi gang. I am going to spend the weekend cleaning the car from top to bottom and one area which needs some attention is my floormats. They aren't stained too badly or anything, mostly the only thing is that the pile of the carpet is kind of flattened from being washed off with water.



Thanks in advance for any tips and assistance. :)
 
Get yourself some carpet cleaner (I hear the EF Carpet Cleaner and Spot Remover work well). Afterwards, if your carpets are fabric, invest in some 303 Fabric Guard, its kinda like Scotch Guard only better, non-toxic, fade resistant, and apparently it lasts up to a year. I use it and am happy with the results.
 
Also, invest in some rubber mats. I use them in the winter and even at times in the summer. I put them right over the carpet mats and if you get nice ones (25 bucks or so) they don't look too bad. I actually use tire dressing on them for a nice low gloss satin shine. They keep your carpet factory mats looking good for when you sell the car or for that nice weekend trip, wedding or dinner you have to drive to.

If you have the extra $$$ rubber floor mats are a great idea, as DK said.

Otherwise, invest in the 303 Fabric Guard, its the next best thing in terms of protection.
 
I may go the fabric protectant route, considering I really don't have too many elements here to worry about in terms of weather to screw up my mats. VW actually did OK with the floormats, the carpet is thick and full but from drying, the carpet's kinda flat now.



I'll use a stiff brush to get the pile standing back up. Thanks guys. :)
 
I agree with Steve the 303 fabric gaurd is excellent and the EF spot remover is also very good.I use both products can't go wrong with either.Good luck.:up
 
Woolite Heavy Traffic carpet cleaner is one of the best available at the local grocery store or department store.
 
Is this wrong? I put mine through the washing machine a couple of times. I scrub a little first on the extremely dirty spots. They come out clean and smelling fresh. I have done this for years and they have never fallen apart. You do need a larger size washer and not a GE space saving type though

I have taken Brad's advice and used the Woolite!! Works awesome, and smells terrific too!! I like to use a stiff nylon brush, and completely saturate the mat with water before I apply the cleaner. Just the way that I do it, though they take forever to dry!!!:rolleyes:
 
I used to pressure washed my carpeted floormats. I did not get too close and mine had a rubber backing. I then hung them to dry and vacuum as usual. It was easy and a time saver plus the nap would stand up when done so a quick brushing in one direction made them look brand new.



For stains I would use household carpet cleaner and let soak first, then srub with brush, then follow up with pressure washer.
