Tips and free gifts from customers

I'd say about half my clients tip. Ranging from $10 to $100+. I have one customer who tipped me $260, and then said he would have given me 3 bills, but thats all he had on him. Keep in mind that job was a $300 job and I walked away with $560.... That was pretty cool! I did try very hard twice to give it back, or at least accept a more sensible tip but he was having none of it! He absolutely insisted, and said if I kept fighting him on it, he'd send me another $100 in the mail. LOL. Needless to say, I take VERY good care of this guy and have developed a good professional friendship with him as well.

Yesterday was another day like that. Came home with a $100 tip and then when I got home I got a call from a long-time client (Just did his car again about 4wks ago). He said he's showing the car in Vegas next month, so I was expecting a quick 'spruce-up' appt. Nope.

He said, "I want you to come to Vegas with me. Don't worry, I have the hotel, travel, food, show, and poker tournament covered so you don't have to spend a dime. Just help me about an hour before the show wipe it down and thats all you gotta do, and just enjoy some time off!"

So in a couple weeks, my client is giving me an expense paid vacation to Vegas for 4 days!!! Woohoo! Customer relations is EVERYTHING in business.

Tips aren't expected but definitely appreciated. I'd say half my customers tip regularly. Plus I have one who has a radio talk show who can get me Ranger's tickets any time I ask (but rarely do, don't want to abuse it), others have given me tickets to Mavs, Stars and even a Cowboy's game. One doctor customer doesn't charge me or my kids (when they were under 18 and lived with me) for office visits, only thing he'd charge us for is lab work or shots as needed. One customer gave me a $500 bike he stopped riding after he put maybe 100 miles on it, another gave my kids some really nice remote control cars one year as a Christmas tip, etc.

I feel very fortunate to have such generous people as customers. :)
