Time to update my product chart

Just added Optimum, I'll add clearkote right now. No products listed, haven't used those brands. That is where the readers of Autopia come in handy.

Clearkote's stuff is either light (Vanilla Moose, Red Machine Glaze) or pretty stout (Compound and Cutting Creme). You might want to contact Everett Glass at Clearkote and see what he says.

Could you also add in the yellow SFX pad? I'm pretty sure it would come under "light polish" in the table.

Cheers,

Phil

This is a great chart you have compiled, I refer to when I purchase products. 3M has two new products you may want to add.

A new glaze

Durable Glaze 38112

A Scratch Resistant Clearcoat compound

SRC 05927

I have ordered these products but have not received them yet. Not sure where they would fall on the chart.

They also have updated the Perfect-It III line of products to comply with VOC regulations. They are now called Perfect-It 3000. I have used the 3000 line and seems to be the same as the III products.

:2thumbs:

The Finish Kare line seems to be getting a fair amount of buss here lately. Maybe toss that one in, too. If you look at their "Consumer" listing it has their ratings for each product.

Some more CG polishes: CGC-1, CGC-3, Cut-2, Pro Polish, AIO

Mothers: PowerPolish, Scrach remover, Sealer and Glaze (that's a 1)

DP: Super Swirl Eliminator, Mild Swirl Eliminator, Final Finishing Polish

Pinnacle: Advanced Swirl Remover, Advanced Finishing Polish

Not to put off any products mentioned here but I'd stick to products that are at least available in quarts or you'll have a never ending chart.

One thing I think might be cool to add is aanother footnote for polishes:

1) Whether they are sun friendly or not

I think this might help some as well :)

Thanks for the update. I saw it in my bookmarks and thought about the need for a possible update. I'm sure it helps a lot of people. Thanks for the effort.

Very informative - thanks for putting it together. :2thumbs:

Suggestion: Freeze panes so that when you scroll right and/or down, you can still see the product grade and manufacturer. Makes it very user friendly - especially as you add more.

Got an email back from ClearKote

Hello Dan --

Since I have never used other products that everyone is talking about, I have no way of comparing them to ClearKote products. I would suggest that you contact Scott Hair, www.scottwax.com.

Thanks for your interest in ClearKote products.

Everett Glass

ClearKote

Hmm.

Also, if people could include what cutting grade they believe a product is at, please post that as well. I'm aware of all these other products, just not where they stand.

I'd like to see Auto Magic products listed. After all they are the largest detail product manufacturer in the world. I think they don't get enough exposure on this forum in the 1st place. I wish more people would try their products(besides Clay Magic) and realize that they are very competitive in quality and price.

David, from what I have gathered, AM is a bulk car care company for dealerships and high volume detailing shops. Most weekend guys have much better alternatives. Their customer service is horrible. I have e-mailed them 5 times with zero response. Also they're not really advertised anywhere so folks don't know about them.

I have a couple of their products and they're nothing special - loaded with fillers and silicones and alcohol in their QD's. I found them to be marginal at best when compared with all the others on that list. The 777 is a nice APC though. I have a gallon.

ScubaStevo uses some of them and he says they're crap compared to other polishes, paint cleaners and waxes.

DanoWatt, Everett is notorious for HORRIBLE descriptions of his products. I've heard some vendors complain about them. I think Scott has used the Blue Moose and Compound Moose. With better product descriptions, proper marketing, more exposure and a slick new website, he could so much better I think. Just my $.02
