Hey guys I just recently took my hobby to full time detailing... I have been getting tons of calls and appointments everyday....:getdown My question is: what are the steps you guys take in detailing a car.. I dont like to rush but I think that I take to much time on cars that shouldnt take that long and its causing me to work well into the night... Any tips on ways to save time will greatly be appreciated... By the way I love this forum!!!!!! You guys have been so helpful..

Thanks, Will

get an air gun. spray out the door jambs with a pressure washer. use lots of APC and/or degreaser. ...I dunno. Put on the hustle! Took my 5 hours to do a really really nasty focus zx3 the other day...a not too bad one takes me about 2 hours.. bumper to bumper. Then about another hour to polish it.

Now that you're making money from it, time is money...so you can't doddle like you do when detailing is a hobby. It's not ok to take 30 minutes detailing the vents with a pipe-cleaner, or picking the rocks out of the brake pedal.

In time it'll come. Took me about a year before I caught onto a good routine that winds through cars quickly and still have great quality.

In time you'll develop a routine that'll be efficient. It's going to take getting some experience with alot of different cars and alot of different situations to master a good system.

Time management in detailing depends on the size and condition of the vehicle you are detailing. For example, I have a detailed a black F-250 extended cab inside and out in as little as 4 hours, because the owner was a neat freak to start wit. and kept it very clean with miniaml paintwork correction needed. :buffing: :waxing:

I have also detailed a green Chevy Cavalier that took almost 8 hours because of horrid paintwork marring and the inetrrior looked like a rolling dumpster. :help: :wall

I have never taken longer than about 5hrs on a detail. I dont do alot of swirl removals, but I do alot of nasty filthy cars.

Thanks guys for all the replies.... I guess I will just have to come up with a routine... If any of you have a carpet shampoo machine that you want to get rid of let me know.

Will
