time per step

Is that a before pic? Did you get all the swirls out? Swirls have been my new found enemy as of late...

ALL SWIRLS OUT! Only a couple of not safe to remove scratches left. In and out took me 1 day and the following morning to do.

Here's the after

And I'm sure happy you brought this time issue. I'm convinced that on some jobs, either some relly fast detailers do the best possible for the time they have, thus not doing that perfect job or the car is really nice making it possible to do it fast.

Let me give you an example, and for the pros also:

How long would it take to bring this car back to new again? 3 hours? (BS)

jgv,

Looks great! And, the 1/2 hour would be for a vehicle in "reasonably good shape" as stated. That one wasn't in really good shape!

On the last vehicle you posted, the client would have to agree to an hourly rate, with no expecations as to the outcome, or we wouldn't do the vehicle. There's no way you can put a time on a vehcile in that shape.

JGV, post up the after pic of that BMW. If I remember correctly, its ends up being black or a very dark blue.

jgv, so what exactly did you do to that for finish for 1 1/2 days? Was it just SMR over and over? Use a rotary multiple times and many products? How many times can you use an aggresive product on a clearcoat finish before damage occurs?

It was black, and the owner could 'dress' his hair looking at it (he said so when I delivered it)

You could be there for a month with a SMR and not remove anything. Remember, those buffer marks were done by someone with a rotary and a wool pad with the fastest compound available.

I tried several products, and as I don't use any wool pad, I ended doing the compounding part with a Megs cutting pad and Presta Ultra Cutting Cream (great product!). I followed it w/ Menzerna IP and FP. Ex on top till now.

It looked like a big star on the lower hood terrible work by someone I dont know how people do that and remove scratchs when it just add's more. Nice job JGV was that BMW the same one with the terrible Interior that looks like a older model 7-Series was the Interior one a 5 or 7 I cant remember.
