Okay I need some people to critique the heck out of my detailing habits,



Have in mind I don't have a lot of money to buy expensive materials so be easy on things like waxing and carpets but everything else is free to critique away. If you want recommend products that you like that are better then the ones I have.

Current arsenal:



Washing process:

Lambswool with zip wax car wash soap

Purple Power on tires and wheels only on factory wheels, rest use mothers chrome polish



Drying-absorber on my car and two microfiber towels on customers cars



Mothers Clay bar



Waxing-



Mothers Cleaner wax with a white polishing pad on a PC (Customers that just want a one step product)



Compounds- Mothers Professional Compoud with a 5.5 yellow ccs pad on a PC



Glaze- Mothers Machine Glaze with a 5.5 white css pad on a PC



Final polish- Mothers Professional Polish with a 5.5 blue css pad on a PC



Interior-



Mothers protectant or Armour All

Shop vac

Invisible Glass

Mean green for tough stains

Eagle one spray wax for door jambs along with mf towel



Engine-



Black Magic 2 in one engine shine and degreaser



Wheels-



Stoners More shine (Switching 2 non Armour all when I run out bought a lot of cans reason I cant switch now haha)



Sealant:



Opti-Seal

I'm *not* a pro, but I think I might have a useful suggestion for you...



Meguair's D151 is a *fantastic* one step cleaner/polish/wax/sealant that works really well with a PC. In fact, I have only been able to use it successfully with a PC; I can't get it to finish out hologram free on a rotary. D151 has non-diminishing abrasives, so you can use it til you get the finish you want, then just stop. You don't have to worry about breaking the abrasives down. In other words, you don't have to worry about over or under working it. Just finish out with a couple of passes at very light pressure, and you'll get a great finish. The LSP in D151 is a combination of wax and sealant. It also has a bunch of fillers in it, so whatever marring or scratching is still in the paint after you polish will be either hidden completely, or at least diminished. That's the safest way to go; leave the deep stuff in the paint until you get really experienced with machine polishing.



And the best thing about D151: it's cheap. 35 bucks for a gallon, and a gallon will do *lots* of cars.



Another AIO you might want to look into that is also very cheap is Hi-Temps two all in one products. I haven't used them, but BigJimZ28 has, and he knows his stuff. Here's a couple links...One-Step Polish & Wax/ Best One-Step Wax

Really, thats a pretty good list even though there arent a lot of "big" name products in there.



I think you will really enjoy the 105/205.



Couple thoughts:

You might try the D151 sampler from ADS. Its fairly aggressive for an AIO.



Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer is a great product. available OTC and cheap.



Armour All Extreme Tire Gel: one of my personal favorites and pretty popular here on the boards. Cheap, lasts a long time, and looks great.



Meguiars NXT 2.0- If you are happy with Opti-seal, theres really no reason to change, but this is a great sealant and its super easy to work with.

Yeah, according to Meguairs, D151 has more cut to it than M205.

I been hearing a lot about meg nxt 2.0 I might try that and meg 151
 
My go-to LSP's for customer cars...



Sealant: Finish Kare 1's High Temp 1000P Synthetic Paste Wax. Don't let the name fool you, it really is a sealant.



Waxes: Either Collinite 476 Super Double Coat Wax or Collinite 845 Insulator Wax. They are both very cheap with great durability and outstanding environmental protection. 476 can sometimes be a PITA to use as it's very sensitive to over-application. You gotta apply it T H I N. 845, OTOH, is easy on and easy off. It doesn't have quite the durability as 476, but it's still good. You can use both of these products over the top of most AIO's.



When you are applying an LSP over the top of a glaze or an AIO, you need to apply it very gently to avoid disturbing/removing the glaze or AIO. I use a hand applicator with *very* little pressure and only *one* pass over the paint. No circular motions or going over the same area more than once. Kinda like this....

Straight line application in one direction, very little pressure. You should just see a faint trail of LSP left behind by the applicator. This is for applying an LSP over the top of something, or when you are applying multiple layers of the same LSP. For example, when I use 1000P, I apply three total coats. The first coat I apply with a PC. Then the second and third coats are applied using the above method.
 
Wow.. Your whole arsenal needs a revamping.



Not only will professional detailing products do a better job, but can make your job easier! Use higher-end products and raise your prices.



Read through reviews on here, and check out some of the "Pro Details Before and Afters".. Most list their products used in the job.. You are on the right track with M105/M205.



I can honestly say, the only 2 products you have listed in your arsenal that I personally like, are Invisible Glass and Opti-Seal.
 
In your "Waxing" step you go from Mother's Compound and Yellow Pad to a White padwith glaze and then a finishing polish? Do you do this on every car regardless of color? If you do you may end up with some imperfections on black. Moreover, you may want to use white with a final polish and then blue pad with the glaze. If not, the FP will negate the effects of the glaze. Just my opinion (for the record I have no experience with Mother's paint products).

O Okay! Thats what I was thinking, Mothers recommends compound glaze then polish
 
Like I said, I don't know anything about Mother's except their metal polishes. Maybe the name things differently. The cars on your website look good whatever you're doing! :)
