Time Between Stages

One Trick Pony
Just got my PC, AIO, WG sealant, and Nattys today. Couple of questions: after the AIO stage, how long should I wait before moving on to the sealant, and then the paste wax? I've been reading up on the steps, but the only thing I can find says theres a 12 hour cure time re the sealant. Also was wondering which is better; removing product by hand or with a MF bonnet? Thanks all, I'm ready to go and I have a spare hood I may "practice" on tommorrow. Must get some technique down before next weekend. I've entered my first show.

I'm pretty sure that AIO doesn't need a curing time like sealants do. Essentially once you WOWO, you can go at it with your first layer of sealant. Depending on which sealant you top AIO with, the curing time can be as long as 24 hours. For example, UPP recommends 24 hours, others like EX-P recommends only 12 hours. Now, you'll find that lots of the seasoned pros on the board don't wait the full 12 or 24 hours, rather they may cut this to, say, around 8 or 15 hours respectively.

Regarding the WG Sealant...I've used it but can't remember their recommendations. Surf to Autogeek.net and find the WG detailing manual as it will give you lots of detail about installing and maintaining this sealant.

My personal view is to wait the recommended # of hours and not cut corners. I feel there is a valid reason the manufacture whats you to wait, and that way you can feel comfortable the product is fully cured by following their guidelines.

Curing time for what to remove and put a second coat??
I use EX-P and never let it cure that long before removing..
and UPP as well..
Maybe that's why I wasn't so impressed by it..

So you're saying all sealants need cure time bewteen 12-24 hours before they are wiped off??

It would be nice if the PB EX-P stated that on the bottle

The "curing" time referred to is the time between applications, not the time to wait before removing.
UPP needs from 15 to 45 minutes before it is ready to remove when I use it. I usually let it dry for close to an hour and it never seems to be a problem. It is recommended to wait 24 hours before applying more UPP, not to remove it.

I haven't used EX-P, but I would have thought the instructions would say something about how long to wait before removal. It is unlikely it needs more than an hour to dry before wiping it off. It is also very likely that you should wait 24 hours before a second application, but I don't really know that.

I have used both EX-P+ and UPP. I wait a minimum of an hour before removing. I have absolutely no complaints with either.
Tarios why weren't you impressed with these sealants?
