* All Interior Ultimate Premium Detail steps Only

50.00 + 25.00 x 1.5hr = 87.50

Now, thats about all i can think of for right now, HOWEVER, id like to know from you guys, the pros, if these prices would fly for the average person looking for a good detail or not.

Those prices look both fair for a client and good for you. As long as you get excellent results, you'll do fine with that pricing.

As long as you're not under-estimating the time the job will take.

I can't get any of those done in an hour.

Ok and heatgain...i said right in the thread, in the first paragraph both bolded and underlined..."All times based in pricing are approximate"

You lost me somewhere...you are charging an hourly rate (which includes water and electricity), and then you add some random charge to that...what is that other charge? Materials? You use $35 worth of materials on a premium wash?

Your prices seem extremely cheap. Maybe the market is a little different there, than it is here, but you should be able to win over good customers with your low pricing.

John

Pricing looks pretty good. I have the same "package" based pricing structure and it works very well for me.

That said, I know you mentioned that times are "approximate", but 1 hour to do your "Premium Wash (int. and ext. cleaning)" ?? You're very fast if that's possible for you to do....

Lost me too, maybe it's a destination/travel charge?

All exterior lights cleaned and restored to original clarity

I'd cut this out of the package and have it be on its own. You can easily spend an entire hour doing yellow front headlights on some vehicles (if you do it correctly, tape everything off, return them to 100% clear again). I charge $35/hour for this service.

I have similar prices here in western north carolina. The trouble is, I have some customers tell me I'm to cheap, but when the phone rings, they tell me I'm to expensive. I have figured my prices based on my costs and profit needed. I am less expensive than many across the country and those I speak with can't believe that I can't get $300-$400 for a premium detail. Around here, I'm lucky if people know what a "detail" is. Then I have guys doing "full details" for $100 and advertising on Craigslist.....they come and go, but it "dumbs" the profession down. I am the most expensive in my market.

I think your Ultimate is about $100 shy of what you need to charge. I offer a one step polish around that area, and then its more to get the 2 or 3 step polishing. Just my opinion on that. Other than that I would say you are pretty spot on with your prices. I would charge something like $40 per hour for paint corrections.

THat is a very good point Aesop.

Customers know what polishing is. They know it makes the paint really shiny.

THerefore you only need a 1 step polish, 1 step wax, to be your "polishing" package.... Which can and will take 6 hours.

3-step polishing is a multi-day job done properly, so that should be in the ~$500 range. or not at all.

Maybe spot-compounding, but not the entire car...

ok well, no one around here really does "full details" like i plan to do so to them.....wash and wax for 100 bucks is good, which is why my prices arent so high, yet anyway

Remember, our idea of a "Full Detail" is actually a "Paint Restoration" and can and does fetch over $500.

People will spend $500 to make their car look like it was just painted... instead of spending $5000 getting it painted :)

i understand that, but im not sure people here can/will grasp that haha

I'm in the same boat. People don't even REALLY understand what a wax is. I get lots of people just asking for a wash and wax and that's it... which I will do, but I much prefer going deeper into paint correction.

It is an uphill battle to educate our customers on how technical caring for a vehicle's appearance really is. I did my complete detail service for a friend, including paint correction and stain removal and had him help me. When we were done, he was shocked how much time and how involved the processes were to do it correctly. He was exhausted, and his arms were killing him from using the buffer for a short time. He's an ex football player so is in shape. I left with a smile on my face knowing that I actually got through to someone!
