The threaded metal part strips the threads in the wooden body very quickly. I reattached mine with JB Weld, and it has held up so far.
It does a reasonable job of scrubbing the carpet otherwise. Use it on slow speed. The idea is to get the bristles deep into the pile and loosen dirt down there.
It works best on heavily stained areas; on normal dirty carpet, I wouldn't say it's that much better than a regular brush with a good carpet cleaner, or a LGM.
