thoughts on dw 443ro

i am thinking about buying a used dewalt 443 orbital, but am concerned because i am very new at this. is the 443 to fast for a beginner? i was reading that it is limtied in the low speed range, and doesn't go very low for sealents and lsp's. any thoughts are appreciated.
 
I wouldn't get an orbital polisher at all. I think you'd be a lot more happy with a DA buffer such as the Porter Cable 7424. It will produce a lot better results. The PC also has very little learning curve. I was very hesitant at first, but now I love that piece of machinery and use it all the time.

I thought the Dw 443 was the same basic machine as the porter cable 7424 ?

they are both a DA type, random orbital polisher.

I know dewalt makes a Da random orbital, whatever you want to call it. I've used one before at my old job, its the 443 i believe.

I didn't do a search on the product before I posted and noticed that Swaptrex labled it only as an orbital. The only big difference I can see is that the PC is labled a polisher and the DeWalt is labled a sander. The DeWalt also looks like it has a bit more power and orbits a little faster than the PC.

If You can get a good deal on it, go ahead and get it. Dewalts are bulletproof, top notch machines. It migh have more power and orbit faster, but you can just lower the speed setting to adjust due to the extra kick it has.
 
been using the DW443 for over a year now, IT IS a DA RO polisher. It's not too fast either. I can highly recommend it for both novice & experienced detailers... I think that "little bit of extra oomph" helps out when removing swirls too.

Swaptrex-
I would agree as well, the 443 is an excellent machine, similar to a PC. It is a DA RO machine. I think a fair price to pay for one that is close to new condition is around $90. You can even have the seller show you where to get pads for it (from Danase.com), they sell a great LC 7.5" pad. Just make sure your new car is not leaking oil the whole way there when you go to pick up the polisher. :howdy
