"Those clubs"

I have to stress how much I love that idea. If I went to one of those joints outside of NYC where people could drive up, I'd make it a standard that I get every clients car washed an waxed. I certainly get other things waxed for them.....

Walter - do it. but are you familiar with how a "T" bar operates?

1. All the girls have to pay off the DJ or he constantly call them up on stage and plays bad music.

2. The manager of the club usually hires his mother to be the "house mother". She sits in the changing room and watches the girls personal belongings. She is paid off also or some of the girls things go missing....

3. The coat check room is a mafia paradise

4. The valet parking is a mafia paradise

5. The bartenders all keep the girls in "X" or what ever drug they need to get through the night.

6. The manager can arrange ANYTHING you need, he just needs a little cash.

Ill bet after your first week they start shaking you down for cash. I'd address it up front before starting so you know what to expect. If they see you making money, and they will be watching, you are going to have to give some back.

spoken like a true New Yorker.

I don't want to comment on the morals/ethics of doing this. I see the pros/cons of both sides.

But IMO, it is YOU and your BUSINESS PARTNER that are CO-OWNERS of your detailing business. Why should both your girlfriends have any say? Don't be ***** whipped. If she's your wife, that's one thing but I would not let a GF call the shots, especially when she has nothing to do with your business. Your girlfriends' insecurities are their problems, not yours.

As long as you are ok with your girlfriend doing manicure for the same owner's clients, all is ok.

Do you ever think that maybe she isn't worried about him?

Not being ***** whipped?

There is nothing wrong with respecting your partner. Time to grow up amigo.

One of my regulars owns several strip clubs. He's never asked if I would consider an arrangement like this, probably because HIS vehicles are a priority, not his customers!

I would be worried myself. I'm not sure about the "clubs" where you live, but in my neck of the woods these places are mafia/biker-gang owned and I definitely don't want to get involved with them.

Yes, I am pretty familiar with how those clubs work. :chuckle: A good friend of mine use to bounce at 2 of the clubs, so I always had some insight to the inner workings. Plus during the "import car boom" in the mid 90's I use to work for a performance shop. We went there everynight after work. I can't tell you how many times I partied with some of the Dallas Cowboys when there training camp was in Austin :getdown :shocked For the most part, the clubs here are not mafia owned, or have a high biker concentration, only when ROT (Republic Of Texas Biker Rally) rolls in. I am very familar with the money kickbacks that have to be paid. The manager for sure, plus the valets at a minimum. :secret We plan to meet up this weekend and get the 411. Thanks for all the advice and views! :up

Sounds like you have a pretty clear-cut decision to make; you can take the job and face the wrath of your girlfriends or you can walk away. You decide which is more important. Even if your girlfriends are being insecure or however else you want to look at it, is it worth finding another source of income for your time in order to respect their views?

Good point. The way we are approaching it is this. We would like to get clientele, but not onsite, book appoinments keep the manager's car/truck clean and use word of mouth. Also although I don't mind the wax/vac route, we would much rather perform a full detail. I would much rather do a full on a Tahoe for $400 vs washing 4 of them for a total of $200. Then again as some stated "money is money".
