After reading through some of the posts I had a hunt and realised I didnt have anything to clean my wheels with. They are a matt finish alloy and were extremely dirty.
So I decided to take a chance, after washing them twice I tried a 'bug and tar remover' as a cleaner for my wheels. It worked great, with only a cpl of stubborn spots requiring a second treatment. It removed all the tar as you'd expect and all the brake dust and dried on cow effluent and left them looking better than they did when i picked up the car from the dealers!!
