This Vancouver, BC snow is killing me!

Vancouver people complain too much, it's Canada, there is snow! Though it's not fun when your water, electricity, and city is shut down.

im curious as to when this information was taken. I belive the last census was in 2000 (im not sure maybe 99) and at the time calgary was not the most expensive of the major cities. I know in the past few years the cost of living has shot up. i am intrsted to see what stats canada says when the 06 cenus results come out.

Also ther was an artical in the globe a few months ago about the costs of living.. i dont have time right now to find it i will have to later for you

Don't bother searching. It's not that important. I just thought it strange because before I retired I was a realtor for 20 years in Vancouver and I kept up with things like cost of living, mortgage rates, home and IC&I prices across Canada etc., and the highest cost City during those years seemed to alternate between Vancouver and Toronto. I noticed one strange thing at the time also; when the prices were dropping in one of these cities, they were going up in the other, and vice versa.

I didn't see the city shut down, but I did see brownouts in various areas including mine and the water was contaminated for a while. Oh, was that a complaint? LMAO.

??? why did we have this random off topic discussion about cost of living?
but isn't Vancouver more expensive because 1. the "middle class" houses were well over a million several years ago and 2. Everything in Vancouver is just more expensive in general. That's why they go to Alberta and the States to shop.

:D If I lived in Vancouver I would get a fake ID saying I was 13. That way you get all the Vancouver weather without the BC PST.

I'd just like to be 13 again period and get a fresh start on life, provided I could keep all the knowledge I've acquired so far.

As for off-topic discussions, it doesn't bother me in my threads, but I can cease and desist if it bothers others. :)

Stay safe and warm.

It's NOT THAT bad re the snow! Thank you so much for your concern. I have all kinds of things to help me do that on my bike like heated vest (heated grips to come), "BACK OFF" Module for my LED brake light and higher wattage hadlight bulb for safety, and of course, I wear a lot of armoured protective gear and have excellent motorcyle boots NOW.

I wish I could be in an area that got a ton of snow. Yes, I realize it would be a pain to keep the car clean, but I grew up around snow and it's been absent from my life for the last 6 years.

Being off topic in the Off Topic Forum doesn't seem too far off topic. :)
It's unlikely that many people are looking for information too relevant to Vancouver, BC snow.
The only time getting too far off topic bothers me is if a discussion of a particular product turns into an argument as to why some different product should be used.
If the original poster asks for suggestions on a specific brand of product, it seems like that is what he should get.
If he asks for alternatives or general information on a type of product, then it seems anything goes would be the rule.

Your post saying in part "...Being off topic in the Off Topic Forum doesn't seem too far off topic...," seems reasonable to me. We have discussed this latest SNOW in Vancouver as I see it, my motorcycle, safety, economics, real estate values, etc. in this SNOW post under "Off-Topic." All good and interesting to me.
