Pockets@PoorboysWorld said:Ok now i really want it to snow here. Do you know how many inches fell??
sillywilly88 said:You must be a skier. And I want you to have it. Keep it up on the mountains for those who need it to play. I'm not far from Whistler Ski slopes so if I want to SEE it, I can go there! lol.
Just over 1 foot here and it's been on the ground for a while. This usually never happens in Vancouver, BC. Our weather is like San Francisco most of the time. And when it does snow, it's gone the next day! I've been riding the bus when I NEED to go out (seldom) and have just about forgotten how to use them!
sneek said:Thats not too bad. Looks like your average winter day.

Pockets@PoorboysWorld said:Snowboarder but i havent been able to snowboard in like 3 years becasue i tore my ACL in my right knee dirt bike riding 3 years ago.
sillywilly88 said:Maybe for Calgary, but it is in no way an average winter day here. If I wanted snow, I'd be living in Calgary (also cause I think you don't pay taxes). We pay a total of 13%.
sillywilly88 said:Sorry to hear about your knee. I never rode a dirt bike but I've had 2 new 2006 Suzuki bikes. The first, a GS500F I rode for just over 3550 KM and traded it on a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard M50 Cruiser (805cc) which I like much better. Put it on the road Feb 24 this year and already have 23,500+ KM on it. Have had it serviced 5 times already. It's a great hobby and I've only been riding for just over 15 months total. Not bad for a guy whose gonna be 73 in January, eh? :2santa

CalgaryDetail said:yup. Nothing bad, sorry silly no simplthy from us calgarians :smile
CalgaryDetail said:we pay 7%, no pst for us. On the flip side we have the higest cost of living in canada (yes its higher then toronto or vancover) as well as one of the highest costs of living in canada. It costs more to get office space in calgary compared to anywhere else in the world
CalgaryDetail said:i was just giving you a hard time. im kinda jelous thatyour snow is gone. we finnaly have a day thats nice enough to detail (it was only like -2c today) and i was busy.
Pockets@PoorboysWorld said:WOW thats great that you still get out and ride. I switched to a quad after the accident but my dad still rides the dirtbike that i fell on.

sillywilly88 said:I found your statemen about cost o living so unbelievable I decided to research it for a reality check. You have been misled. Check this C&P showing Calgary is the LOWEST:
Tax Burden and Cost of Living
in Various Canadian Cities for $50,000 Income
Calgary 31% 27%
Montreal 42% 41%
Ottawa 36% 32%
Toronto 36% 36%
Vancouver 37% 50%
Figures are a percentage of income and Toronto is the base city. Source: The Conference Board of Canada, The Canadian Tax Foundation, CCH and the National Post.
As an example, these figures suggest that an individual earning $50,000 per year in Vancouver who moves to Alberta would, with the same income, gain about $11,500 per year in after tax purchasing power (i.e., the reduction in burden = 0.5*50,000 – 0.27*50,000).
