This site has a virus !

Ive gotten the virus from this site and a few others. It always starts with either this site is infected or you will have a box pop up that says its Windows Defender. If you see those, turn off your computer right away with the power button. If you do get infected I was able to fix it by booting in safe mode and then running system restore to an earlier point.

I wish I had tried that, I got some advice "that usually doesn't work" so I wound up calling Norton :o

Man this site has gone downhill.

Three warnings just to get here. I am running in 'sandboxie'. So far it is doing it's job.

Just did an AVG online scan. Got this result:

DANGEROUS: LinkScanner Online has found:

(********** Obfuscation (type 1600) : Exploit)

Scanned: Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Still infected - if you get this email alert avoid Autopia until it's fixed.

My current workaround is to use Tapatalk on my Android phone to access Autopia because I also got virus warnings when accessing the site using my PC.

Sent from my Galaxy S using Tapatalk

Man, it is still there! They should have been able to squash it within day. I can only view the site using my iPad also. My regular pc and i get nothing but virus warnings.

Let,s hope David takes a close look at the hosting company or company maintaining the site. Or if an exploit with this new forum code, go back to the old code.

I use Opera and have had no issues.

Just did another AVG Online Web Page Scanner. This is the result:

DANGEROUS: LinkScanner Online has found:

(********** Obfuscation (type 1600) : Exploit)

Scanned: Wednesday, September 01, 2010

Still dangerous guys! Use Opera. Download here: http://www.opera.com/download/

Yesterday morning, yesterday afternoon and this morning, each site visit attempted to download / install mal-ware. This is getting a tad frustrating....

... looks like the sit is back up.. To bad there is no information on exactly what is going on.. Administration seems to be pretty much inactive as to keeping up updated.

poor Disaster Recovery Plan and even worse Forum relations plan.

without an explination of *** went wrong, and WHY it wasnt fixed in a timely manner... good reason to pack up and visit the autogeek forum only.

I was hit by this. I had to reformat my computer. I got the same fake antivirus window, then it wouldn't let me click on crap until held ctrl+alt+del for about a minute...

The virus was very deep, in the header file(s) - I don't know much but researched what it was and the only way to get rid of it was reformat.
