This is it guys, I need help choosing my products

Guys give me a break--I wasn't trying to dissuade anyone from asking questions. I was trying to offer a suggestion that there is allot of valuable information in recent and older posts that may help the OP. Did you see any posts in the OP's thread from Barry, David, bunky, C. Charles, Dan, Kevin Brown to name just a few and yet they have all contributed valuable information in various threads.

Good point, pwaug. Some of the most knowledgeable people on this forum don't respond to a lot of the "opinion on product" questions. Even I tend not to respond if I don't have something significant to contribute about why I choose that product. A lot of good info is missed if people do not research prior to asking for advice.

Often times a detailer's choice of products is like a chef's choice of ingredients. The basic recipe may be the same as other's, but the choice and ratio of top quality ingredients is what makes it unique. Sure you can find a recipe of ingredients from a cookbook, but it takes a lot of time and learning/experience to make you a chef.

You could make a case that everything has been covered somewhere at one time. Therefore, it's just a matter of looking for it. What's the point of asking any questions then? Show me ONE truly unique question that's been asked here in the past year. You can't.

I guess we can all retire to the Hot Tub section and just let people use the search function for answers. Sound good?

And btw, if a mod is reading this, please close this thread. It wasn't my intention to get the natives riled up. According to some, if you're questions aren't truly unique, then you should just search for answers and not interact. From now on, every time someone asked anything, I'm going to search for previous posts that cover their issues and remind them they could have searched first. I doubt their situation will be unique and never heard of before. Have a great night gentlemen. Sorry to be a PITA.

Buffer, pwaug apologized twice to you, made it clear that his intentions were to be helpful. Do you think you can maybe forgive him?

The thread doesn't need to be closed, you (and everyone) keep asking questions. That is what the forum is for.

Enjoy your weekend.

I would generally recommend Meguiar's and Optimum products, but every brand will generally have some really amazing products and some real duds. You have to just do a lot of reading to figure out which products in which lines seem to be really popular.

I have staples in my arsenal and I have other products that I tried and will basically just use on free "family and friends" type of jobs. Meg's 105 and 205 are staples. I bought a 1 gallon jug of Optimum (spray) car wax because it's a staple. I bought a gallon of Adam's Detail Spray. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tuf Buf black wool pads on a DA as they cut harder than anything I've tried. I can generally get the paint LSP ready in one more step with a foam pad. I too think foam finished down better than microfiber. Stoner's Invisible Glass is my staple glass cleaner. Meg's Endurance Gel is now my new favorite tire dressing. Gtechniq's C4 is definitely the best trim product out although it's very expensive. I bought a gallon of Meg's APC Plus and it's very very good. You basically only need Woolite mixed 20:1 to clean your whole interior. I love Einszett 1Z Cockpit Premium if you want a cleaner + factory finish interior and Adam's Interior Conditioner if you want a little more shine. Those 3D foam pads are pretty good because they're just Buff-N-Shine pads with a 3D stamp on them. Sonax FE deironizer/degreaser/cleaner is awesome on wheels.

That was quite a ramble, but I've tried a lot of products and the ones I've recommended are very good and you really couldn't go wrong with them.

Thanks Thomas, maybe I'll relax my stand. It just seems a couple people got bent out of shape.

I'll try to keep my questions to job related at this point. Sorry for any confusion.

Since I'm suffering from severe tennis elbow, (from hand compounding) I have to wait until I can unleash my DA. It sucks. I plan on taking a lot of before and after pics of my jobs. I know it's like coke to detailers to see before and after pics. ;)

I plan on being one of the best, and have no doubt that I will.

Don't. Ask what ever questions you may have, that is why you are on a forum. :D

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you will get better real soon and start detailing so we can all see what you are able to produce.

I always enjoy C&Bs with lots of pictures. Do you know how to take good pictures?

Ok... I should really be leveling that 1969 Camaro right now. :D:D:D

Time to go and work. Adios!
