ok i was thinking of getting a cold air intake and i drive an auto so i was wondering if it matters if the listing for the item says manual only i heard it doesn't matter but i can't find one for auto that i can afford.so i want someone who is more experienced's opinion.

I've heard it go both ways on that question. If you need to take your car in for service, just put the stock intake back on. I can take my CAI off in about 5 minutes, and put the stock one back in in maybe 20 minutes.

also will installing a cold air intake void new car warranty?

Only if they can prove that it is what caused the problem. Just save your stock intake like Paul suggested.

I am in the same boat. The cold air intakes for the 626 V6 only fits the manual transmission cars. Not sure what the differences are. You can make it fit but there are some modifications that have to be made. :nixweiss

do you feel a power gain from you cold air intake, cause i heard you really can't feel the power but it makes a cool sound and that is partly what i'm going for.

Isn't there an Accord forum where your question could be easily answered?

It sounds like you are looking at a CAI on Ebay. You could always email the seller to ask the question. They obviously know that there is a fitment issue with the manual vs auto.

If it says for manual only then you should not buy it for a auto. Cold air intakes will vary on each car for the amount of power they will give. On a typical stock Neon they will give from 3-5hp . I would go with a underdrive pulley first. That should give you 8-10 HP.If you go with a cold intake first also look for a better muffer. As stated before check the accord board.Make sure your basic tune items are good to go first i.e. plugs, wires, dist cap.the dealer cannot say blame a bad transmission on a cold air intake etc It is the law.

Yeah I upgraded to a chrome straight-through muffler to improve the outward flow from the engine before I improved the inward flow into the engine.

It enhanced the appearance of the back of the car too.

Personally I think CAIs are a huge waist of money. Typically any gains from them are due to the less restrictive than stock air filter that comes with them.

I don't think the HP/TQ gains from a CAI are all that much, but I still love my CAI because of the sound and the look it adds to the engine bay (chrome).

The CAI came with a dyno graph showing a 10-15 HP increase and 30lbs of torque at the peak or something. While it's neat to think that would be true, I think I would feel an increase like that. The sound of the intake is very deceiving, in that it makes you think that the car is much faster due to the awesome roar of the intake.

But hey...it makes driving extremely fun for the first couple weeks of having the CAI! I admit to still enjoying the roar at WOT once in a while. :D

i put on the SRI in the winter time and change it back to CAI in the summer time im scared of getting hydrolocked

My CAI (Injen) actually sits right at the bottom of the engine bay, and I have a splash guard that is below about 3/4 of the filter. Thus the splash guard protects my filter from water splashing up. I've never had any problems with it in any season.

im pretty sure an intake that says manual, will not work on the auto, because the drivetrains are different, and there is probably less room, or something obstructing where the cold air would normally past through

about voiding the warranty, most a**hole dealerships will, so save the stock one to switch.. can be a pain in the a** sometimes though, atleast for me, because i have to take off my front bumper, and remove the battery/windshield washer fluid to change the intake...

:sosad

I doubt the manual will work in an auto. There has to be a reason they have two different products. My sister has an Injen on her 6th-gen Accord that is a pain to install and take off. The new filter is right in front of the wheel and you have to take off the bumper to get to it.

A lot of dealers don't care, but some of them aren't as nice. So if you do it, save your stock system and once you have a problem, switch it back, then take it in.

A CAI will give more power if the stock intake is more restrictive than the exhaust is, otherwise not much difference, not enough to notice. A cowl induction, pulling air from the base of the windshield, will give better results.

There is a law that states a dealer has to prove that a mod has actually done harm to the engine in order to void the warranty so i wouldn't worry about it
