This definatly messed up my wax job (got in a wreck).

Well, as someone who takes "car care" to the extreme, it had to happen to me. I got hit today. I was going to take my John Deere front rims to get new tires and was heading towards and intersection where the light was read. I was slowing down. The light turned green as I got about 20ft from the line. As I was crossing the line going approx. 20mph, a green Ford Exploder races up behind me running between 50-60mph and slams into me. Now I was at the "start" line for the intersection, but she knocked me across 4lanes of traffic!!! Stupid *****, I hate her. I had to turn around and drive back to her to go back to the accident scene. She "said" her brakes failed, but I saw her for a split second in my mirror before she hit me, she wasnt even looking at me (probably on the phone). I am a little sore, but ok. I am lucky though, if that light I was at hadda been red, she would have knocked me into 50+mph traffic. My tundra wasent so luckey tho, as you can tell by the pics, its messed up bad. The truck bed hit the cab below the window in the rear, it bent my leaf spring mounts from the frame, bent the frame ever so slightly, and of course messed up my freshly washed/polished paint. I was sooooo pissed, but lucky. To prove how hard she hit me, it jerked my Alpine h/u from the dash and ripped out all the wires and it was sitting in my lap. The insurance company is prob. not going to total it, but they are giong to fix it perfectly. I have a guy that I refer all my customers to if they need body work, and he is good so hopefully it will look ok.

Shows how tough a TUNDRA is, I drove away from a 50+mph rear end collision. Her ford looked like it was hit by a mack truck head on.

Be safe out there folks.

Aw what a drag! Typical response though, "my brakes failed" bah! Glad to hear you are ok, since it is going to be on her dime you might as well head on over to the chiropractor and get yourself checked out.

Similar accident happened to me a couple years ago, I was at a stop light, #3 in line and this guy hit me doing 50+ without touching his brakes, he passed out behind the wheel. My 95 Tahoe stood the test though but I still got pushed into the car in front of me which in turn pushed the car in front of it.

Big trucks with a heavy footprint is the only style of car that I will ever drive.

it was such an awesome truck too! My friend's car was also hit in the back, he had a camery, 2004, didn't come out with a scratch, but the other car was totaled. Show's how tough Toyota's are... not only their trucks. Glad you're ok, people should really be much safer on the roads.

Brandon1-Yikes, glad to hear you're OK. Yeah, your truck *did* hold up very well, considering. Glad to hear you have a paint/body guy you can trust.

So people still try the "brake failure" excuse huh

Ah, I feel for you bro. I understand how much care you put into your vehicle, only for some moron to hit you...

Glad you are getting it fixed and it doesn't look all that bad..

Sorry to hear about this...what a horrible excuse too...unfortunately for her it won't help her get away from the insurance company :p

That truck is a beast. It almost looks like it got love-tapped! Forget getting rammed at 50mph...

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I just hope my body guy comes through for me this time. I dont want to buy a new tundra, but I also dont want to drive a POS.

NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:shocked

Dude.....I am SO sorry!! I am really glad yer OK but that really sucks about the truck! Knowing you and your work it will be perfect again soon!! If it's any consolation it will be the cleanest truck in the body shop before they even start working on it! :nana:

Again.......I am really glad yer OK!!!

thanks mose, I asked my dad if I could wash it before it went to the body shop and put on a layer of sealant to prevent waterspots (sits outside), he was like ????????????? Huh?

It actually may not be going to the body shop. I found some more minor bends in the frame today. Kinda sucks that way though, the insurance co. isnt gonna give me enough money to replace a truck like that.

Who wants to bet? Totaled or not totaled b/c of frame damage.

:aww: I'm sorry to see this Brandon. It is certainly a thread that did a 180 degree turn from the last I read from you. That's when you were excited about finding the John Deere detailing products :(

Your truck took a beating but it certainly doesn't show it. I am guessing though you probably have a good bit of "hidden" damage which is unfortunate since your truck is sooo clean! On the other hand, and as you know, you don't want to have an unsafe truck either.

I agree and would certainly see a doctor after taking a 50+ MPH smack in the a@@.

Good luck with whichever way it goes. I really hope it works out well for you.

They are giving me a rental suv, or truck. The adjuster came today and quoted $7000 damage, with $3000 on hand for extra cost. I even had him pay to replace my alpine cd player and all the wires it jerked out of the back. I get a new cupholder and center dash trim piece. I get a new hitch cover, and we are supposed to get about $3000 in diminished value when the truck gets fixed.

I think I came out ok. I may still trade it soon just because, but I think it will get fixed like I want.

Thanks for the support everyone. The massage idea is great!!!

Hey man sooo sorry to hear that. Your truck is MINT too! Oh well, happens to the best of us. You were lucky!

Almost the same scenario as you, but the car (Our S500) wasnt as lucky: (I was fine)

Sorry about your truck, but hey, at least you are still alive. Recently, I was involved in a pretty nasty accident, which sends my bimmer straight into car's heaven. So I know how crappy it feels. If they are going to fix it, make sure they do it properly.

Heres some pictures of the pics of my accident.

Do get yourself checked out... you will want to get examined to esatblish a baseline after the accident in comparison to before in case any spinal problems manifest themselves in the future.

Trucks can be repaired... back pain sucks... trust me. I had a line of duty injury last year and my back still stiffens up on me if I don't take an anti-inflammatory after doing yard work, detailing a large vehicle or after fighting a fire!
