These are the Chemical Guys Chubby towels?

Has anyone measured their gallons? I can see not filling it to the top due to shipping concerns (as anyone who has ever had any liquids packed in a suitcase burst during a flight can attest to)..but then again if you're talking almost 4 inches of air...seems a bit excessive.

Something just doesn't sit right with me. They're a known custom formulator with a retail presence. That in itself isn't right, but even worse is that they're selling large quantities of products that APPEAR identical with the products they custom formulate for customers down to colors and scents. That just seems like a huge conflict of interest.

Look at the brew-ha-ha that came about when CG was first discovered and the 'hey look..I can get the same product for less' I think it hurt the reputation of the private label.

Now there seems to be some issues with products with the CG label..and now that they're linked with some private labels, I can't help but to wonder about the products they're forumlating for private labels.

If I was one of those private customers, I'd be upset

However, this could also show the value of the private customer..I would hope they do alot of 'weeding out' of products that don't come up to snuff.. either through the product in the first place (picking their favorites out of the maze of redundancy and even having it tweaked), or if they get a bad batch found by their own testing or through complaints, that they would stop selling it and return it to the manufacturer

First of all, I want to make clear that I am not flaming Chemical Guys, but maybe just giving a little customer feedback in this thread. So I have to agree with my Vintage Club member SuperBee . . . the quality control is lacking.

I got my order last week. 1.) 12 of the Satin Edge Elite mf’s had a 6 inch line of brown fibers (paper) and sticky stuff on them – I got it out with some scraping and 2 washes in hot water. 2.) Egdeless mf’s were 14x16 and not the advertised 16x16, they were white instead of the green ones pictured. 3.) Citrus Wash Gloss was filled only 3 ½ inches from the top. Satin Edge and MF Edge Elite Deluxe mf’s are both advertised 8.75 mm, but the Satin Edge is definitely thinner/lighter than the other one. 4.) Someone earlier talked about the Chubby not being so chubby – after purchasing 1 dozen, I have to agree.

These are issues that are very small to me but may be a big deal to someone else. A lot of us order from etailers for the convenience, but what’s convenient about getting products that are not as advertised? Is it worth the time to repackage and then return it just to wait for the replacement? Again, I am not flaming Chemical Guys. I would be more prone to order from them if the QC improves. Oh yeah, and as for the samples that everyone claims that CG just throws in the package for free? I’ve never gotten a single one even though I asked.

You have never gotten a sample from CG? I do every time I order, sometimes I get $25 worth of samples in a $50 order.

I do agree, the cubby towels are lame, but their elite towels rock.

Oh yes, rub it in Ron. I've put $300+ orders with them and got nothing even though I politely asked. He probably thinks I got the money to blow so let's make him pay for all of his stuff. Oh well.

I agree about the Elilte Towels. I have the Silk Edge and Microfiber Edge and they are good. It's not like I'll never buy from them again, they just need to work on their quality control.

I ordered the plush towels again from them and it is definately not the same thickness. I also ordered 2 dozen cheaper yellow towels from them. 16x16.

Once I opened the bag they measured 14x14. ***??

I called and I was told that the reason is that those are """prewashed""" :lol :lol

Once I washed them & dried them the edges curled up. Boy do I hate that.

I am not ordering their towels anymore.

Also, never received any samples.

PS: Their shipping charges are the highest of any vendors.

Well I have to stick up for CG on this one . . . Autogeek seems to have the highest and most ridiculous shipping prices. On one of my orders from them, they really protected my Cobra towels by using a lot of styrofoam packing peanuts. Good thing too. I'd hate to see what would've happened to my mf's if they would've been dropped!:grrr

To AG's defense, I was given a shipping quote for my $300 dollar order and was not happy with the shipper or the quote so I emailed back, found out that there's a new person in charge of that area and they worked out the best deal was with USPS and cut half the amount off the quote.

Its always good to email and keep in contact by phone.

I agree that when manufacturers directly compete against their distributors it is not a good business arrangement and frustrates the distributor but it is getting to be a more common business practice among many different sectors.

I agree. Some of the chubby’s are thicker/thinner and softer/harder than others in the bunch. At $19.99 for 12, it’s not bad. But I think I’d rather get 25 for $11.95 at Sam’s Club and take my chances. Read the description: At the top it said 70/30, the bottom said 80/20. I said something to Paul. He assured me they are 70/30 and he will change the description on the website. Now the website only says 80/20. So what are they made of?

Elite Deluxe towels – top of description says 70/30, bottom of description says 80/20. When I get the towels, the removable sticker says 75/25. So what are they made of?

Again, Quality Control is lacking.

hey vintage just went through the same thing as you my elite towels that just arrived are 75/25 as well. and the website still has that Elite Deluxe towels – top of description says 70/30, bottom of description says 80/20.:wall

I also like the grey Vroom mf's. I use them for quick detailing and they do the job well.

I love the Vroom grey. I get a new pack every 2 weeks. The orange are not bad I use those on my wifes van and my truck. The grey are way softer.

I have never had a problem with CG or AG or for that matter CMA. I really don't pay attention to shipping cost. When I need or want something I order it.
