" The Wax Shop's/ California Car Wax" as wheel cleaner?

a person posted favorable comments on another forum about using this cleaner wax to remove baked on brake dust from VW wheels (i.e., lots o' brake dust).



any comments? :xyxthumbs or even :nixweiss

If you wheels are painted and/or clear coated (my VW ones are) then it makes sence to use paint cleaner type products. Stuff that works for my wheels, (I started using a WD40 product) (P21S didn't do anything, unfortunately), Klasse AIO, 3M SMR or Finish Restorer, or Clay. These are all basically all paint abrasives that will help remove contaminents. Wheel cleaner that are approved for painted wheels can be used also, it's just for some of the embedded stuff a polish might be benifical.

I have a Passat as well (the post I referred to was from vortex, your other fav forum ;) ) . are the OEM wheels clear coated? I missed a few cleanings early on so I have some really bakes on dust. I do wax the wheels to keep new dust down, but looking for something that will really get the old dust off.
