The UDM arrives tomorrow!

My UDM and Klasse AIO and SG arrive tomorrow. I'm getting pretty nervous about this whole thing. I really don't want to screw up the G35S.

Can anyone give me answers to these questtions.

1. Using Klasse products, how much do I need to tape in terms of trim?

2. Will the 5" backing plate on the UDM allow me to do tight spots? (e.g., the rocker panels on the G35 are not flat.)

3. What about edges (e.g., sides of fenders, roof, hood etc....)?

4. Also, do I need to wait 24 hours between coats of SG. (I've been advised to do SG by hand. Any thoughts on that?)

5. Finally, what about the wait period between the time I apply my last coat of SG and my P21S?

1. IF you have never used the PC or a orbital before tape everything, I tape nothing because its not hard for me to use and I have been using one for 7 plus years.

2. Yes and no. You will have to try for yourself and see if it works. If it doesnt, apply by hand. The products you have dont need to be applied by machine, they are not defect correcting products.

3. Same

4. Yes you should wait 24 hours. Wiple the SG on, move to next panel do that one, then come back and wipe off the first panel. Or better yet put the SG in the trash and order some AJ Trigger or Opti-Seal

5. Always let SG cure 24 hours before your top it with more SG or the p21s. I usually allow 6-12 hours of cure time between coats of wax.

Remember to have fun!

1. No need to tape anything. Klasse is non abrasive and the UDM doesn't generate enough heat to hurt anything (with the 5.5" pads).

2. You'll probably find out in the next couple days.

3. You'll be fine on the edges with the orbital.

4. Yes wait between coats. Apply by hand and very very thin. If you can barely see it then you've done a good job on the first application. You can either apply it wipe on wipe off (wowo) or you can apply it and let it sit for a couple hours. Some even let it sit over night and it should come off pretty easily.

5. 24 hours before the P21S.

Remember to have fun!

Believe me, I might be nervous about this, but I also can't wait to get started. My wife offered to let me practice on her 1998 Dodge Stratus. Its finish is so bad, nothing I do could make it worse.

Hahahaha done believe that one, you can always make it worse. I did the car of a girl I was dating when I first started and tripped over the extension cord and dropped the PC on her hood. Trust me, it made it worse LOL

LOL...don't do that again now that you're married (date other girls or drop the PC on your wife's hood)...she'll never let you forget it! :D

I can tell you one thing you need to do for sure and that's to be careful with the on/off switch. I was doing my wifes car yesterday and had the door open so I could do the roof and accidently hit the on/off switch and it shot polish all over the interior, fortunately it was leather so it cleaned up pretty quick. I accidently hit the switch 4 or 5 times yesterday.

Please see my answers to your questions below. I too was a newbie, with some concern, before ordering my UDM.

The UDM, color coded pads and the products made everything so easy. Just remember, you take off the excess material, so less is better. On my first test panel I put alot of AIO on and it was wasted when I buffed it off.

Pre-moisten the pads with detail spray, which helps. For the Klass AIO, I drizzle a line of product in one of the grooves, which covers a quarter panel +/-. For the Glaze, I used a nickle size drop per quarter panel +/-.

My car looked amazing, the dealer who sold it to me could not believe it...and it's black!

Can anyone give me answers to these questtions.

1. Using Klasse products, how much do I need to tape in terms of trim?

- I didn't need to tape anything, the product is clear and the UDM is easily managed. I just used a hand application along some tight spots, like under the rearview mirror or around some trim pieces, but nothing major.

2. Will the 5" backing plate on the UDM allow me to do tight spots? (e.g., the rocker panels on the G35 are not flat.)

- I could get tight to things, other than under my sideview mirror. Between the angle of the door and the length of the side view, I couldn't get the least 1/8".

3. What about edges (e.g., sides of fenders, roof, hood etc....)?

- No problems, I found the pads to be able to handle contours on the car, such as aero affects.

4. Also, do I need to wait 24 hours between coats of SG. (I've been advised to do SG by hand. Any thoughts on that?)

- On the glaze, I only waited 25 minutes between applications, with 2-3 applications, and then removed. I waited 24 hours prior to applying my P21s, prior to that time frame, the wax will haze up and streak.

5. Finally, what about the wait period between the time I apply my last coat of SG and my P21S?

- See above.

Wow! Thank you so much. I feel much relieved. It ought to be here (via UPS) any minute. We're doing the Harry Potter thing tonight with the kids, but I'll start the process early in the a.m.
