The Tru Shine NSX build thread

What's up everyone,

I Figured I would go ahead and start a build thread and show what all I have done to the car so far. I know it will be a long time before I finish everything for the final detail write up. I still have a lot of work left to do and the weather is to cold outside right now to do anything to the car.

The way the car sits in the pictures is the way that I purchased the car. This will be a slow build, but you gotta start somewhere.

We will start off with getting the car up to par.

With this car being 20 years old, there are a few "typical" things that have to be replaced every 20 or so years lol.

I drove the car down to Murfreesboro TN while I was on a detail trip and had my good friend Kris (AutoxDC2). and TurboDave take the car and give it a good thorough inspection, put it up on the lift, check the suspension, frame, motor... ect. While they had the car, I informed them about a couple of small electrical issues that I was having.

So they had my car for a good week ordering all the OEM Honda replacement parts and getting everything taken apart and put back together.

New OEM parts that were replaced:
Driver Rear hub bearing
Driver Inner & Outer Tie Rods
Passenger Inner & Outer Tie Rods
New Brakes and Rotors All 4 Corners
New Rubber up front
+ Alignment done by the Best in the Biz (RX7Vinnie of Vin-Auto)

New OEM Oil pressure Gauge + Oil pressure sending unit
New OEM Vehicle Speed Sensor

I think that is all....

here are a few pics from that week.(Sorry for the Crappy Cell phone pics)

A big thanks to Kris P. and TurboDave & Crew for fully going through my car inside and out an making sure all harnesses were good and everything was up to par while I was busy working.

They had all panels, seats, carpet.... everything removed, checking for little wiring grimlins.

Current list of Mods from previous owner:

Injen Intake
Remus Exhaust
Type R CF replica rear wing
(Lame) 17/18" Liquid Metal wheels (soon to be replaced)

After that, I finally had a chance to work some magic on it.

Here are a few pics from before the paint correction.

That's all I have for you right now.

Next thing I will be doing is Removing all the wheels and acid washing and degreasing all of the Aluminum Suspension parts and Polishing out all the Glass to remove the Acid rain etching.

Starting to look good again. Thanks for sharing.

Read that black NSX paint is difficult to finish out. Is it so?

Eric !

Congratulations on a beautiful, timeless styled machine !!
She is just beautiful !!!

I have friends who work on these in California and this car has always been one of my favorites! A real head-turner no matter where it goes !

You really made the paint perfect ! I like that you used Meguiars 105 and a Cyan pad - that is pretty much an awesome combination - and the finish with the Tangerine pad and 205 pretty much seals the deal.

Great work, great pics, thanks so much for sharing this with us !

Eric,

The Honda NSX were clearly ahead of it's time. Unfortunately they were produced for a short period of time but every once in a while one surfaces and heads spin.

Nice restoration indeed!! :bigups

Nice job. You really cleaned it up nicely. What products are you planing to use to clean up the suspension?

Great to have friends that help you out and you finishing it up afterwards, I was wondering which rims are you going to put on the NSX.

Looking good Eric! Glad you got a 1st gen, they look so much better than the updates. One of the few cars that looks better with pop-up headlights, IMO.

I like the look on it Eric.

Questions:
What kind of wheels are you looking to change to?
Why replace the brakes and rotors with OEM? Why not upgrade the setup for better performance?
