The Tough Spots...

I would be interested to hear how you deal with the really difficult spots to reach.

Doorjams, trunk and hood lip areas etc. Wheel well go along with this. A really great detail job has to include this difficult areas.

How do you do it???

The trick is to do these areas really, really well at least a couple times a year. Wax or seal them well afterwards. This makes subsequent cleaning a snap.

These areas all have oil, waxes and rustproofing overspill from the factory in the creases that catch dirt right from the first drive from the dealership so removing the grime is critical to make your car look special.

The best tool you will ever find is medical swabs. Get them at the local pharmacy. They are great for getting into the tight spots and crevices.

Once you clean everything and build up wax or sealant in the areas then weekly cleaning afterwards takes little more than a wash out with water or a quick detail with your favorite QD'er.

COEX-PILOT- What Brad said :xyxthumbs . There was another thread about this a week or so ago, but I don't remember where it is to link you to it.

Another tip: lube your own hinges/latches/etc. and tell the service guys not to do it (along with "no courtesy washes"). Other people won't be as careful as you will and can get lube all over the car. Some of that stuff can be pretty nasty.

I agree, a good coat of wax "repels" most of the dirt. A little QD and a med-swab and you're back in action and show-ready!:D

One other thing.........TIME!

Can't be done quickly. I spend at least 2 hours per week in the engine bay alone.

Once you door jams are clean, it takes no time at all to wipe them down when drying, and qd when qd ing. Once there clean they are easy to keep clean, if u put in the time. Same goes for under the hood, inside of rims, wheel wheels, underbody etc
