Canada’s ice hotel is rebuilt every year from 30K tons of snow

The Hotel de Glace in Quebec just might be the coolest hotel in the world. Either way, it’s the only ice hotel in North America. The hotel is a temporary structure that only exists for a few months every year. It was first built in 2001, and has been created every winter since then. This year, it will be around from Jan. 4 to March 28. The hotel is made of 500 tons of ice, and 30,000 tons of snow. The snow used is man made: churned until it’s extra humid and dense. Construction begins in December, as soon as the temperatures have been consistently below 32F for a week. Around 50 people work tirelessly for around six weeks to create the 32,000 square-foot, 44-room hotel, which also features a restaurant, hot tubs, a sauna, and an ice bar. - See more at: Hotel de Glace Quebec | Ice Hotel Quebec

Isn't it odd there are so many deaths in our country due to shootings (including the Parent Parenthood by an terrorist) and we have to hold a congressional hearing on Benghazi? Simple measures like ignoring it or gun control is going to solve it.

2703 Shootings, 440 Deaths Year-To-Date In Heavily Gun-Controlled Chicago

It is worth noting that while this violence proves the impotency of gun control in general, it is especially damning when juxtaposed with some of the most recent gun control endeavors in particular.

For example, Chicago implemented a “violence tax” at suburban Cook County gun stores in April 2013. The tax is gathered on each gun and bullet sold within the county. Then, in 2014–the first full calendar year after the implementation of the tax–the Chicago Tribune reported 434 deaths–a 19 death increase over 2013.

Yep

Gun control works good

Chicago’s death toll is almost equal to that of both wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, combined.

There have been almost as many deaths in one American city as there have been in the two major wars carried out by the U.S. military this century.

Chicago’s death toll from 2001-November, 26 2015 stands at 7,401. The combined total deaths during Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-2015: 4,815) and Operation Enduring Freedom/Afghanistan (2001-2015: 3,506), total 8,321.

The Ice Hotel is cool but it pails in comparison to "Red Bull Crashed", where skaters skate downhill on a man-made ice track (think iceman).

Oh I was thinking the credit card sales only sign on an ancient gas pump. They brought the payment methods up to standard, but failed to update their pumps to take credit cards.

ethanol in race fuel
I noticed that right away. Up here in Canada the gas stations don't even know what "ethanol" is...
I'd also be concerned about leaded gas... I like methanol racing fuel.

Some places use up to %15 ethanol in the highest octane non-race-fuel. I had to email each gas corporation to get the Ethanol percentages for each fuel type for each region.

Petro-Canada Came in first with 94 Octane and 0-5% ethanol (likely always 5%)
Shell comes in second with 91 Octane and 0% ethanol, but when I tested (using water mixed with the gasoline) I still had ethanol separation so they lied or someone is watering it down with ethanol...
Esso, Ultramar, etc all have 15% ethanol and only offer 91 octane (will cause knock in high-end cars).

The only gas I don't get engine knock from is Petro-Canada 94 on and high octane methanol racing fuel's but I also have a custom tune.

NASA To Focus On Muslim Outreach

A few weeks after killing the U.S.A.’s world-famous moon-mission program, President Obama has ordered the space agency that operates it to focus on reaching out to Muslim countries.

Indeed the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) mission will shift from space exploration to Muslim diplomacy, as per the commander-in-chief’s orders. When Obama announced earlier this month that he would slash NASA’s $100 billion plan to return astronauts to the moon, he didn’t mention where some of the resources would be directed.

The president only said the moon program (Constellation) is behind schedule, over budget and overall less important than other space investments. NASA’s attempts to pursue its moon goals were inadequate and took funding away from other important programs, including robotic space exploration, science and earth observations, Obama claimed.

NASA’s new secret Muslim outreach mission was conveniently omitted though the head of the agency finally revealed it this week. NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden disclosed that Obama wants him to “find ways to reach out to dominantly Muslim countries” as part of the administration’s efforts to make the space agency a tool of international diplomacy.

Bolden referred to the new mission as an effort to reach out to “non-traditional partners,” especially countries that don’t have an established space program. Of special focus is Indonesia because it’s the world’s largest Muslim nation, Bolden explained. No word yet on how much money the U.S. government will invest in the Muslim outreach.

In the meantime, a congressional firestorm has brewed over Obama’s plans to nix the moon-mission program, according to news reports. Dozens of federal lawmakers have sent letters to NASA’s chief insisting that the Constellation moon program remain intact. Senator Bill Nelson, a Florida Democrat, blasted Obama for cutting the moon program since it will likely cause the U.S. to fall behind countries like China and Russia in space exploration.
