the problem with Absorber

Recenntly I have been using micro fiber towels to dry, before I would use the Absorber. I heard that it wasn't the safest way to dry. Also what is the difference between the expensive micros and the ones you can get for $12 per doz. at the local target, if both are made from the same materials.

x2 When they buy the fabric they actually buy it for the weight per x amount of feet. That is what makes the different types of quality and determines the price. If you are using it on the carpet there is no risk of doing any harm to it so if the MF that you get for cheap works just as good as the expensive brand then go for the cheap ones and save the good ones for your paint. :bigups

I've been using Vroom MF towels from Target and some blue ones I got at Wal-mart with no problems at all. Just make sure they're clean before using, I have two plastic bins - clean and used, to cycle through my stack of towels. And I have the pricey ones that Autogeek and others sometimes adds to a kit when you order stuff, there ain't no difference in form or function, just one will cost you more than the other. Personally, I'd rather buy a bunch of Vroom towels and change them out more often, and they launder well too.

I don't know about it not being the safest way to dry a car. You can take the most expensive shammy/towel you can find and if you use it wrong, you'll have some marring, scratches, etc. Do a search for the absorber on here to find a few debate threads. Theres a few good posts in them.

I've used the absorber myself for years. I've had no problems with it. Its all technique really.

My thoughts as well, but with a little added comment.
IMO, The biggest problem is people not getting their vehicle clean before they start drying it.
If your Absorber, terry towel or MF towel gets dirty, then you didn't have your car clean when you started.

In this cold weather, I'm spending more time at the touchless car wash and letting it dry going down the road. At least it's getting the salt off.

That system might not be too practical for the pro detailer though.
Althought I do have to say that air drying a customers Corvette or Porsche does sound like it might be interesting. :)
