The Power of QEW

I picked up some QEW (Quick and Easy Wash) this week from a local RV dealer, and thought I would give it a try on my truck today. It snowed a few days ago, and the roads here have been an absolute mess. My truck was very dirty, so rinsed it at a coin-op wash using the pressure wash before QEWing.

I used the two bucket method of washing, and used 2 oz of QEW for 2 Gallons of wash water. I also put 1 oz of QEW into the rinse bucket.

It was about 0 celsius (27 F) in my garage, but sometimes if I didn't wipe off the water fast enough it would freeze on. Overall this product was very good, and has very good cleaning ability. It should be used on a cleaner vehicle though, although it did do a good job for my dirty truck.

Here is a few before pictures to show how dirty the truck is:

Thanks. Check with you local RV dealer to see if they carry QEW. It is made by Protect All. I had mine ordered in about 3 days. Cost me 30 dollars canadian for 32 oz.

You can order it online from camping world also, or directly from Protect All.

so then this stuff is just *** good as soap or car wash shampoo, you just do not have to rinse ??

does it prevent swirls when washing a car as dirty as the pictures posted above ???

I gave my truck a good rinse with High pressure, warm water at the car wash before I used QEW. There is debate whether QEW will introduce swirles into your finish. Most people agree that it is the techniques used to wash that introduce marring.

By using two buckets, one for wash, one for rinse, using soft sheep skin mits, using Waffle Weave MF towles to dry and only using QEW on moderatly dirty vehicles, marring of the paint will be very minimal. Either way, in the spring my truck is going to get a good 2 step polish just to clean up whatever this winter has put in the paint.

Wew. Glad I don't live in Canada. :)

Yea, keeping a car clean in the Fall to winter transition, and the spring melt can be difficult. Once January hits, and it gets real cold, I wash my truck once and it stays clean for like a month!

This is the explaination I got from Ken Newman of Protect All:

Here is some techinical information about it:

The answers are from a Champion (the manufacturer of the product) representative:

Where does the dirt go?

The best answer I can give you is "into the towel or wash mitt and then into the bucket." The agents in Quick & Easy Wash are a blend of Surfactants, surface active agents in lay persons terms. These agents are already in use, and have been, in traditional car washing products used in both, hand wash and line wash systems. So the science is not new or unique, just the application. What sets our product apart from the crowd is mostly the lack of SUDS, amongst other and various and sundry other subtleties.

Suds are an unnecessary byproduct of soap. When Quick & Easy Wash is used in the washing process the suds are eliminated and the surfactants do the work. Part of the work they do is to envelope or suffocate the surface. Two things happen, the electrostatic or chemical bond between the dirt solids and or hydrocarbon solids (this covers most of the soils found on cars) is broken. Next, these soils are enveloped or wrapped and trapped into the surfactant and then into the washing media such as a towel or wash mitt. At rinse time, the towel is plunged into either a clean bucket of water ( using the two bucket method ) or back into the Quick & Easy Wash. In either case the same is true, the dirt solids succumb to the rinsing motion and use gravity to fall out of the washing media and fall to the bottom of the bucket. You can see this if you look into your bucket after doing a wash job.

How come it doesn't scratch?

In order to address potential scratching, the product contains a element that crosses the lines between polymers, lubricants, and waxes. It is true that if you bear down on a wet cloth over a dirty surface you will get scratches. However, our products make up will help to minimize the occurrence. So don't press down hard, with any washing product. Let's face it, scratching can occur even on a totally clean surface with a poor selection of washing media. Chose and dedicate washing cloths or mitts to a specific task and use them for nothing else. My current best pick for washing media is material called Microfiber, it is easy to find and we are working presently with an importer/manufacturer to bring it to our line of products, but that's another topic for another time.

makes me feel better about it Jon, thanks for chiming in.

so i guess i can use this stuff all the time ?? can you still rinse if you want, ?? i suppose you can, it just helps not having to in the winter time huh ??

ok, i guess i am going to have to give this stuff a try :D

I hate Canadian winters. This year has been worse for keeping it clean, since its been hovering around freezing/melting point.

The buick and blazer haven't been washed recently, the 300C was washed last night, but I nearly froze to death, it was worse than goin 60 mph on my quad, against the wind.

Also, I'm from Winterpeg too :)
