The New Lexus LS460L

I have no problem with platform sharing as long as the vehicles are superior. I think Toyota can pull it off (and has) quite well. I think Honda does a fine job, but until they integrate that exhaust into the bumper I think they're just too similar to Hondas.

You can't get performance Lexi from the factory!!

Not yet...;) Drewski, Lexus says they will produce the LF-A supercar soon to add more performance to the line.

The AMGs and M Series are indeed available but they are very expensive.

when i could purchase a Bimmer that isnt an upgrade of another vehicle.

Lexus is not an upgrade of Toyota. They have different engineering teams and manufacture. There is no IS, GS, or LS equivalent in the Toyota line.

Uhm, Toyota Altezza = IS300.

If Lexus were to offer true performance from the factory as MB, BMW and Audi do then the price would rise accordingly.

BMW, MB, Jag, Audi -- euro heeps of trash! In my never to be humble opinion they should not even be mentioned in the same breath as LEXUS. Sounds like a lot of people on this BB are still living in the 70's - dump the puca shell necklaces and ployester shirts guys this is a new era.

Of course there are always the ding bats out there who like bashing a particular car maker for reasons they can't even explain -nothing they say or cite ever makes sense. Can't do much about their ignorance but anyone with any intelligence and flavor for quality will tell you LEXUS is the way to go. The rest of you ding bats, put down the GM & FORD sponsored road & track magazine and get real UNBIASED test results from consumer reports. Naturally you'll come up with some ridiculous reason as to why it is that CR put those euro cars at the bottom of the heap. But if racing in & out of orange cones is what you do and you need the info then continue with your road & track stats.

That's true, but they no longer make the IS300 - I think he was referring to the new IS250/350. They are Lexus only cars.

My prediction - IS500 in the next two years, 5.0L V8 @ 410hp to compete with the M3, RS4, CLS500, and whatever Infiniti has up their sleeve.

Cheers.

Bingo! :)

The Toyota models you refer to are Japanese only models but these are going away as Lexus opens Lexus dealerships for the first time in that country. At that point. I believe the Lexus fleet will be totally distinct.

I think Lexus is trying to go after the BMW market, or some portion of it. While they don't have a performance division yet, that could happen or they could offer more hp after they unveil the LF-A car.

I'll say this much about iDrive and similar navigational systems - as maligned as they are once you get the hang of them they are really nice. I used to hate iDrive until I learned how to use it - I do agree having more voice commands is a good thing, though.

I have had my 550i for a little over a month, and love all of the electronics. I am enjoying Sirius, Navigation, Voice control, Bluetooth, Adaptive headlights, and at this point i-Drive is getting to be second nature, though it is odd checking the oil on a computer. This car is quite, powerful, and handles well. It is the lap of luxury compared to my previous M3. I do quiver with the thought of owning this car off warranty, though.

We own a Lexus, BMW, and a Mazda. They are all good cars. The Lexus has a very comfortable ride, and for the first year and a half at least has been quite reliable. But for driving pleasure the BMW wins followed by the Mazda 3. Driving excitement is not a quality my wife appreciates, but I do.

I think it depends heavily on the model. My test drives of the new IS and GS were quite fun, right up there with the new BMW 330i.

:lol
