The most recent paint trend - Flat Black

I'm kinda wondering on how the finisih will hold up over time? What if you have to repair a panel? Paint matching? How durable is it? Can it be buffed if it is scratched? I think it looks cool in a show type environment, but is it feasable in every day use?

Aparrently not, on the buffing side - you actually bring OUT the shine that's "hiding" behind the matt paint.

As for scratches - no problem.....just touch it in with the same modelling paint you'd use on everyday wiper arms :chuckle:

I think it's totally impractical, and merely for show purposes.

Quick, get to the Batmobile! It doesn't do anything for me. Maybe at an auto show, but not on the road. Reminds me of muscle cars driving around in primer. IMO, looks like it still needs to be painted. But hey, to each his own.

For me, it depends on the car. On the Rolls and the SLR, I really like it. However, on a daily driver type car, no way. I would get it if I could afford the right car and the proper way to keep it looking great.

I think it would look cool on an older car, say an 85 Monte Carlo SS thats been slammed on 18s. I still wouldn't do it, but it looks cool on certain cars.

It looks awesome, flat black has always been a great "Kustom Car" color and if it needs to be explained to you, then you won't get it anyway.

:)

How about the Hamann Ferrari?

I absolutely love the look of flat black. That rolls looks killer done up like that. In fact there are some guys on Ferrarichat who are getting some Enzos painted flat black and I'm all for it.

Man I dont know if I could drop a couple hundred grand for a car that looks like its still in its primer stage.

Although the Rolls looks "alright", I dont like the look of the Benz. I think that Ferrari is horrific looking.

Whatever makes you happy though ya know. If someone likes it then thats cool, if others hate it, thats cool too....
