Ok in a nut shell the word carnuba or brazilian carnuba is WIDELY used.

When you buy a product that's say's carnuba wax IE: Nattys or Clearcoat (just using as an example) because they are 2 that I have and like.

Isn't the carnuba just a partial product that is in the wax along with the other product's that make up the wax ??? IT's not pure wax correct ? It contain's other chemical that make up thing's such as shine , durability ect...

I hope I worded this correctly and it make's sense.

There is such a thing as pure carnauba wax. It just isn't useable for cars, as it's hard, like a brick. When you buy a carnauba wax for cars, you are buying a wax with carnauba wax as one of its ingredients. There are also solvents, possibly other types of waxes, possibly cleaners, etc.

Yes, carnauba must be blended with solvents, polymers and emulsifiers to be able to use in car care products.

In raw form carnauba is very hard and sticky and has a very low melting point. Off hand I believe it is around 140-145 degrees farenheight.

I'm pretty sure that even the best carnauba products, those that are mentioned frequently on this board, have somewhere between 24% to 30% actual carnauba content.

actually not even that much ;)

Wow, I'm surprised!!

I got my numbers from product claims. Pizazz claims 25% carnauba content, Griot's claims about 30% content, and some of the high-end Zymol estate waxes claim over 60% by volume.

Can you provide some "real world" numbers?

That's kind of what I was thinking. I also heard carnuba content was not very high as some claim. Usually the statement some make of 100% carnuba on the bottle's or pure carnuba is somewhat misleading to the regular consumer's who buy off the shelf product's from a store.

Besides the carnuba its what they disolve and mix it with that shows me the quality of the wax. There are products that after waxing are stuck inside my foam applicator and I need 10 minutes to wash them out, then there are times that my applicator washes clean,so to me its also what is the cutting solvant
