The "Its not that bad" Car

**Shudders** Man the car I did was a train wreck. I just about turned it down when I saw the rear bumper. Its a 1993 MX3, pretty fun little car. But the paint was just awful on it. Never mind the interior/engine bay.

Oxidation was a killer on this thing, and my pads paid a price. Now speaking of price, I grossly screwed myself over on my quote. Note to self, don't base quotes off of pictures!

Anyways, I'm too tired to type out a bunch of crap, so here are the pictures:

Thanks for looking people, thats all the pictures, so feel free to say what you want.

There were so many processes involved, when I have the energy, I'll post them.

Looks beautiful!!! I am sure that the car was MUCH worse in person.

Process? Looks like 2.5, SSR1, NXT. I am sure there were some other prep stages, but that is just a guess, it has that NXT look??????

What was used on the headlights?

Great work Steve!

That half bumper shot is great...well it sucks it was that bad, but you brought it back.

Were the rims too far gone?

I even tried a scrub pad from my kitchen and they wouldn't come clean. :angry

And processes for the paint were:

Meguiars DACP on bumper and hood.

Swirl Free Polish on rest of the car x2.

Topped with some S100. Sorry bud. :sign heh, jokes.

One of my pads is in the garbage now though. :sadwavey:

Oh, headlights were polished with SSR3, then SSR 2 to get rid of the haze.

Reminds me of my early days detailing professionally. A good portion of the cars on the road back then in the early 90s were single stage paints and Explorers were the worst!

Great recovery on that car, I bet you doubled the value of it with the detail!

Heh, I'd say pretty close. It was in rough shape. :(

I've yet to be given a total $h1tter to do, but I can't imagine it's too far away!

Ben

Thanks. :dance

Once you get a totaly $hitter, you will realize how lucky you are to work on nice cars. Sadly, I work on $hitter cars almost everyday. :(
