The Hype Surrounding DWG

DWG is sealant based, so it would not bond properly over the top of RMG. Also, DWG and RMG are both glazes, so you probably wouldn't want to use two glazes. RMG is a glaze meant to be used before a carnauba based LSP, DWG is a glaze meant to be used before a sealant based LSP.

well I finally managed a good clean and a layer of DWG followed by another layer of UPGP :D

Considering my car is a dark silver i was very impressed at the visible difference from the DWG application. Definitely glossier and wetter and look forward to tomorrow once the PGP is cured fully :2thumbs:

Applied at speed 3 on the UDM with a red SFX finishing pad - went on really easy and buffed off even easier - LOVE this stuff and just exiled more bottles to the forthcoming sale ;)

did some by hand on the MG in the garage, but under the fluorescents on such a light colour its tough to see the impact...wait until some sun and a long drive :D

I finally have a sample of DWG thanks to Eliot Ness, who I finally got meet last night. Talk about GREAT guy to talk to.

I'll be trying the DWG soon...I bought the Ultima sampler today, so I'll be able to try it with UPGP.

1. I can't answer this one, as I haven't tried that combo yet. It sounds like a real winner, though.

2. I think that Opti-Seal gives a pretty comparable look to UPGP. I really do like UPGP better, though, as it has among the best environmental protection of any of the sealants.

3. You would get better durability from the DWG (and any sealants you then put on top of the DWG) if you put it down on bare clear coat. Sealants (and DWG is a weak sealant) typically don't bond well to waxes or traditional glazes, like Red Moose. You mentioned that you did Vanilla Moose->RMG->Opti-Seal. The Opti-Seal isn't going to give you very good durability that way, as sealants won't bond well to traditional glazes like RMG. Try using the DWG instead of RMG. DWG is *meant* to be used prior to a sealant, so it won't hurt the durability/bonding of any sealant you put on after the DWG. RMG is great stuff, but if you're going to use it, you should top it with a carnauba based LSP. RMG plus a good carnauba will give you good defect hiding abilities if you need to cover stuff up.

Thanks SuperBee, I really appreciate it. The correct pairing of different styles of glazes with either sealants or carnauba is the kind of information that is super valuable for me to know, but that can be somewhat confusing to figure out just by reading posts here. I was fairly happy with my old Vanilla Moose> Red Moose>Opti-Seal, but I like DWG a LOT and see the potential for a wetter look, which is what I am after.

Thanks to your additional info I have the confidence to try using use UPGP or OS after DWG, and know the pairing will be a good combo. I appreciate the help and look forward to triyng it out this weekend. :bigups

You can use wax or sealant over DWG. It's RMG that you have to be selective about what you top it with.

UPGP and DWG on any shade of silver is a killer combo.

Agree! You can use DWG under or over any sealant or glaze. I have tried DWG with UPGP, Zaino, P21s100%, Pinnacle Souveran Paste, Clearkote Carnauba Moose Wax, CG 50/50 and Pinnacle Signature Series II and it produced great results with all of them with no problems at all. My fav combo still remains UPGP and DWG.

DWG can be used under or over a sealant or wax with no problems whatsoever. It is the RMG that is not that flexible.

I inferred from the original purveyor's forum that dwg is pretty much compatible with anything, be it wax or sealant... should a grain of salt be taken with that?

Some appear to use it alone, some layer it, some below, some on top..

edit - oops.. I didn't see detaildoc's respose before posting, sorry :)

On a totally different note, it seems everyone is on every forum. I get confused where I'm at :o

Yeap, you can use it anyway you like, as a base, as a topper, I believe you can even drink that stuff or use it as a cologne :D. Yeah, we are everywhere man, we are just a bunch of OCD detailers.

Hey Doc, glad to see that you survived that Tornado yesterday!

Wow, a Tornado in SoCal. It even derailed a freight train!

Lol! Thanks man. It was insane, we could see them from our house. It was scary as hell :nervous2: I had never seen one before. I think I like earthquakes better.

Doh! You guys are absolutely correct....I was completely wrong on that one. DWG *is* compatible with sealants and waxes, while RMG is not.. only wax. Yeesh, sorry about that.

Funny, that's exactly what my wife said!
