The Hype Surrounding DWG

I have fallen in love with this stuff tonight. :bow

Just got done doing my WRX and I can't believe how slick the surface is. When I was running a MF over the surface of the roof, the paint was slicker than the glass on the sunroof!

Application was so easy a caveman could do it (a caveman with a UDM, that is). It kind of reminds me of OPT poli-seal, in that it literally melts into the paint, leaving hardly any residue. Anything leftover comes off really easily. I ran a UDM at around speed 3.5 with a blue sonus SFX pad, if anyone cares.

Anyways, I just wanted to add another positive review for DWG. I'll see about getting pics tomorrow, its too dark here now. I hope anyone on the fence about this stuff pulls the trigger, it will not disappoint.

Which is exactly why I had such good success. :chuckle:

Would love to see pics of the WRX.

Yeap, that is because of the antistatic properties. DWG with FK425 work amazing together to reduce dust.

Very impressive. The car seems to be more resistant to dust now than when I was just using OS with FK 425. I didn't expect that.

I live a gravel/dirt road and I see less dust stick to DWG than most other LSPs I have used. I have yet to buy FK425, though.

Ask and you shall receive:

Please excuse the swirls on the roof, I haven't polished yet this year. I just wanted to show off the reflectivity.

I have a few samples of DWG that a member sent me last winter. I actually just prepped my car with z2 and my truck with z5. Should I layer DWG on top of the fresh layers of zaino, then add some more z2 or z5?

like a z2 DWG z2 sandwich?

Thanks,

Steve

Sure.

And don't feel like you must ad z2 on top of the DWG. You can just leave the DWG on top if you want.

my bottle arrived today - did a quick wing on the MG in the garage but under the flourescents it isnt possible to see much difference... Will wash and layer it onto the Saab tomorrow along with some more UPGP :D

Please excuse dumb questions from a noob, but after reading through many threads I am a bit confused.

I have severe rheumatoid arthritis in my wrists and hands so it is a slow and painful process to detail my car (but something I refuse to give up!) so I am trying to make sure that whatever work I do has the most possible impact per energy expended ;-) and am hoping wiser folks will help me figure out the following:

1. Will applying UPGP over DWG increase the total shine/refelctivity of the finish, or just add protection/durability?

2. Is UPGP over DWG thought to be a shinier combination than Opti-Seal over DWG? I am comfortable with the Opti-Seal but I do have some UPGP and will use it if it is likely to provide better shine. (FYI, I have a 2005 satin silver Mustang, and want the most reflection and flake-pop I can get)

3. I recently applied DWG over products I used on my car last year before storing it for the Winter (Vanilla Moose>Red Moose>Opti-Seal). Does this sound OK or would the DWG shine be significantly improved by stripping off the prior products?

TIA for any feedback!

1. I can't answer this one, as I haven't tried that combo yet. It sounds like a real winner, though.

2. I think that Opti-Seal gives a pretty comparable look to UPGP. I really do like UPGP better, though, as it has among the best environmental protection of any of the sealants.

3. You would get better durability from the DWG (and any sealants you then put on top of the DWG) if you put it down on bare clear coat. Sealants (and DWG is a weak sealant) typically don't bond well to waxes or traditional glazes, like Red Moose. You mentioned that you did Vanilla Moose->RMG->Opti-Seal. The Opti-Seal isn't going to give you very good durability that way, as sealants won't bond well to traditional glazes like RMG. Try using the DWG instead of RMG. DWG is *meant* to be used prior to a sealant, so it won't hurt the durability/bonding of any sealant you put on after the DWG. RMG is great stuff, but if you're going to use it, you should top it with a carnauba based LSP. RMG plus a good carnauba will give you good defect hiding abilities if you need to cover stuff up.
