the feel of carnuba

How many of you use pure carnubas as a topper over some sort of synthetic sealant? I recently used Meguiar's #21 synthetic sealant (1 coat) over my entire car. About a week later, I whipped out my new jar of Natty's blue and applied it to half of my hood. While the appearance difference could be seen (though marginal), it was more of the feel of the greasy wetness that I enjoyed. The area felt thicker. Has anyone experienced this or know what I'm talking about? I hadn't initially thought about using carnuba as an LSP, but will now.

I also found the last can in my town of the discontinued Meg's #16 pro paste wax and applied it to the other half of my hood. It wasn't nearly as easy to work with as Natty's but the durability is supposed to be killer. Mike from Megs.com uses this on his cars and says "think P21S except twice the product for 1/3 the cost." I haven't used P21S, so I can't verify this. Anyway, I got this wax because it seems many on the Meg's forums are going through withdrawals since they can't find it anymore.

Maybe I'm a purist, but I like sticking with just a sealant or a 'nuba on my paint. I like the subtle differences they offer in their pure forms.

Nice find on the #16! It's one of my favorites. In my opinion, #16 glows more than P21S, while P21S shines more...but that's through my funky eyes :)

Natty's is one of the easiest pastes to work with, but #16 should be fairly easy too if you apply it thin.

It's interesting to hear someone compare a meg's wax in the same breath as a higher end product such as p21s. It's refreshing actually since I don't read that very often. I will attempt to apply a second coat even thinner. Are you supposed to let it dry to a haze though, because I did?

I particularly like the look of the can. Looks like a product an old grandpa car buff would have sitting on the shelves in his garage. The old school look and feeling I get when seeing it is worth it alone for me.

#16 has to be applied really thin and is greatly rewarding if you do two layers. Durability is also GREAT! Lasts 3+months, rivaling that of PB EXP.

#16 with Natty's blue over it looks outstanding and really really shines with clear reflections.

mblgjr, wow, now that's hardcore--nuba over a nuba!?!....interesting concept. Evenflow, if you would like to purchase the can of #16, let me know.

Yes, it should haze fairly quickly in a warm environment. I've found the best method to apply #16 is with a terry or MF applicator (something I discovered tonight). Take a light (pressure wise) swipe of wax onto the applicator. Start at one spot, and work the wax in. From that spot, start spreading it over the panel. If you need more, lightly swipe the applicator in the can. If you work it just right, you should be able to do most side panels with one "swipe" from the can. The hood and roof may take one or two more. Do the Meguiar's "swipe test" with your finger, and slowly wipe the finish with a MF. If it is still a pain, get yourself a MF bonnet, it makes product removal VERY easy.
