The extent of my "detailing"

Well, I finally decided to post about the limited things that I do to my truck, as well as my parent's two Toyota Camrys. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to detailing, as my only grasp on it, is wash and polish, and clean the interior. My system are as follows:
Wash with Armor All Car Wash Concentrate
Dry with Shamie
Polish with Hawaiian Island Shine, Diamond Shine carnuba wax
Clean windows with Armor All Window Cleaner
Dress Tires with Turtle Wax Wet N' Black
Clean interior with moist paper towels

I got interested in detailing mainly because I couldn't see paying someone else some big money for something I could do myself. My parents were "helping" out the son of a friend, by allowing him to do their cars. I kept insisting that I would do it for them for free, and at comparable quality. They finally agreed as the other detailer became unreliable in meeting his monthly appointment. Whether he as a "detailer" does anything significantly different, I'm not sure, but that's why I'm here to learn.

Two Camrys and a Tacoma? Like Toyotas at all?:D
One of the first things you might want to buy is some good micro fiber towels for removing wax and cleaning windows.

Just a suggestion, after the MF towels, read, ask questions, read some more, ask more questions, but don't go out and buy every product that you read about here.
There are so many good products that the recommendations you will receive will be mind boggling. And chances are, they will all be good products.

Pictures

Also, you might want to post your pictures in the gallery. Works better for the site loading for the dialup folks and your pictures won't get buried with your post.

Yes, my dad swears by Toyota as he had gotten a good deal on that beige Camry second hand. He also liked the salesperson (again a friend's son). I had a third hand Nissan 89 pickup before, and I was thinking about getting another one, as I'm not one to change. But my dad told me to go Toyota as he felt it's quality could not be matched. He directed me to his friend's son, the salesperson, and I must say, I've always liked the look of the Toyota trucks, but I wasn't impressed with the salesperson, as he was pushy, unfriendly, and lacked any sense of loyalty that my father so kindly displayed. Eventually, I bought the Tacoma anyway.

How can I submit my pics to a different gallery and have it linked? If you are a mod, and you do that sort of thing, please, by all means change it.

Click on the "Gallery" button at the top of the page and upload your photos. In the process, you will create your own gallery. You can title your pictures and add comments.

From the looks of the plates on the Toyota's there's another Hawaiian on the board.
I would check out Pakshak he is a local for you and even though I never dealt w/ Ranney I hear that he is great to deal with.

Ranney is a great person to do business with and his towels are great! I recommend him highly and especially since he is in Hawaii.

That blue waffle weave with the dark blue border on his home page is my favorite towel for drying and/or for Spray & Wipe. I have several and use them daily for the S&W.

As everyone else is saying, this site is a wealth of knowledge.

Does your Tacoma have a 5sp? I'm considering one myself, and manual is a must. I've never driven a stick shift on a truck though.

Yes, my truck is a 5 speed. In selecting the truck, my only two prerequisites were air conditioning, since I never had a car with it, and manual transmission. Of course air conditioning is fairly standard nowadays, and we had to wait a few weeks for a truck with manual transmission to be shipped here. I get the feeling manual transmission vehicles are slowly losing their popularity as their are more automatics around. Anyway, definitely go with standard.
